We have had guinea pigs for many years, and it is important to us that we provide them with good care, from a healthy environment to a well rounded diet. One of the things we feed our guinea pigs is hay, and we recently ordered Small Pet Select 2nd Cutting Timothy Hay.

As a busy parent, I always look for ways to be more efficient in my routines. I like the convenience of ordering from Small Pet Select because I can have the products delivered right to my door.

This 2lb size of Timothy Hay is very good, as it is a nice amount to have on hand. We tend to go through a lot of hay, and this is a decent amount without taking up too much space.

The hay itself smells fresh and has a nice green color to it. We have had some experiences with low quality hay over the years, and it is nice that Small Pet Select is so fresh and good quality.

Our 2nd cutting Timothy hay is leafy with a soft stem and a medium amount of flowery heads. (Small animals love the flowery heads… yum!) The texture and fiber amount are in between 1st and 3rd cutting, and many pet parents consider 2nd cutting to be the best of both worlds. (It’s the most popular hay we sell.)

2nd cut Timothy Hay is green in color but may be mixed with yellow/brown depending on weather and growing conditions. This is totally normal and not harmful to your animal. Hay is a natural product.

We give the guinea pigs an unlimited amount of hay to forage on. It is important for their health, as far as diet and wearing down their teeth.

The guinea pigs get so excited when we had hay to their cages! They start jumping around and burrowing into the hay.

The guinea pigs love this hay! Their favorite part is the fuzzy heads of the pieces, but overall they really enjoy all of it.
