I received a copy of this CD in exchange for my honest review.
I was very interested to learn a little more when I received “Lead Belly, Baby!”. The CD had me intrigued, and we learned about folk and blues musician Huddie William Ledbetter, more often known as “Lead Belly”, who lived 1888-1949.
GRAMMY-winning children’s artist Dan Zanes has always been fascinated by Lead Belly, which is what inspired the CD. Zanes and other musicians have put together a CD of Ledbetter’s music, remade for people to explore and learn about this music.
What a great way to honor an American music idol. There is so much history and great music on this CD.
The book comes with a 40-page booklet, complete with lyrics and information. It is great to be able to read about the history behind each song, plus photos.
The CD runs 45 minutes and has 14 tracks.
Lead Belly, Baby is available September 8, 2017.

Learning about music and becoming more appreciative of what music give to us is priceless. Wonderful there are people willing to share and give of themselves through music.
This. Is. AWESOME! Led Belly is one of the greatest blues artists of all time. I have to add this to my collection.
I love blues so much. It’s one of those music genres that just moves you with the first note. Led Belly was one of the masters, and I think this album sounds great!
I love his musical style. I remember seeing this guy on a kids televsion show when my kiddos were smaller.
Did he originally do children’s music?? Great to see him branching out and being successful.
My daughter is taking a music appreciation class this year in her freshman year of college. She’s learning all sorts of different music styles from artists she’s never heard of before. I homeschool my 12 year old and thought about doing a short lesson on music appreciation as well, these would be great to include.
I’ve never heard of either of these artists. i’l have to youtube them and listen to their music. I’m always open to new artists and music genres
I’ve never heard of this, but definitely appreciate the introduction! I listen to every type of music and there’s something about this that I’d expect to be very catchy.

I’m not one to listen to Blues a lot, but sure did enjoy when in Memphis all the live performances on Beale Street. So much local talent.
Honestly, it’s my first time to hear about Dan Zanes and Lead Belly. I would love to listen to his music.
