We traveled to the Yucatan, Mexico in June 2021 with plans to see as much as possible during our trip. We we rented a car out of Cancun and enjoyed a couple weeks of road trips and relaxing. Here was what we did on our trip!
Saturday, June 26
Arrive in Mexico (approx 1pm)
Take shuttle to pick up rental car at Avant Rental Car
Stop at Chedraui (similar to Walmart) in Cancun for supplies
Start driving to Chiquila for ferry to Isla Holbox
Stop at Arbol Milenario (thousand year old tree) in Solferino
Take ferry from Chiquila to Isla Holbox
Take golf cart taxi to Ensueno Holbox hotel
Walk on beach and get dinner in town (Edelyn Restaurant & Pizzeria)
Get gelo at La Gelateria and take photos at famous mural
Sunday, June 27
Breakfast & morning at the beach
Walk to Punta Coco
Swim at Punta Orion nearby
Walk to town, dinner at Roots Restaurant (really good pizza!)
Monday, June 28
Walk to northern beaches (Playa Holbox)
Walk to town for lunch
Swim at hotel
Walk to town for dinner
La Gelateria for gelato and more mural photo opps
Tuesday, June 29
Take golf cart taxis to ferry
Take ferry back to Chiquila
Drive to Valladolid
Check into Hotel El Mason del Marques
Dinner at hotel

Stop in Temozon for paletas

Drop off laundry at the Lavanderia
Visit markets in Valladolid
Drive to Xkopek Beekeeping Park for a tour
Drive to Hacienda Chukum Cenote
Stop for Cocos Frios & Churros
Walk to pizza restaurant for dinner in Valladolid
Saturday, July 3
Drive to Izamal the “Yellow City”
Rent horse carriage for tour, including stop at Kinich Kakmó Mayan Ruins
Walk around and visit San Antonio de Padua Convent
Drive to Cenotes Cuzama
Return to hotel in Valladolid
Dinner at Subway
Sunday, July 4
Drive to Akumal Bay Beach & Wellness Resort
Enjoy day at resort, including walk to town of Akumal

Morning: Resort pool and SCUBA training

I’d love to visit the Yucatan one day. I’ve seen it on so many travel shows, and it’s just so beautiful.
You have an awesome list of things to do! I will have to keep this in mind if we decide to vacation in the area.
We love to paddleboard and scuba! This is a very detailed list and I love it. Have always wanted to visit and now I have big ideas.
I would love to travel here for 16 days. So many places that I would love to visit.
