Your wedding day is a special day for everyone. You want it to be the best it can be, and one of many of the hard things you have to think about for this day is your bridesmaids’ dresses. No matter if you feel like they should be in on the decision, or if you want to pick it yourself, everyone wants to look good.

1. Browse

Catalogs, online, and in person are great ways to find ideas. Looking through magazines, books, catalogs and more can be really helpful in order to assist with this decision. Online is another great way to look at dresses for inspiration. You have access to thousands of images and articles that can help you. Asking your friends is a good idea, because not only are you getting other’s opinions on the dresses, but you might choose to have your bridesmaids help you as well.

2. Budget

Consider your number of bridesmaids and your overall budget. This is very important because going over your budget is not good, especially when you have other expenses. After every decision you make, see if you are still within budget and if not, make some changes. Bridesmaid dresses can get very costly, even when you only have a few bridesmaids, so be careful and check often.

3. Choose colors that fit with your theme

Consider season, flowers, and setting (beach, farm, etc).  Think about your location and what colors would be a good fit.

Here are some recommendations if you are stuck:

Bright coral has always been one of my favorite colors. It is a color that represents good fortune and success. It also changes negative energy into positive energy. I love coral for bridesmaid dresses because of its feminine and cute vibe. Coral and white is a great color combination as well.

Yellow may seem like an odd color. It doesn’t always feel like it will match with a white wedding dress, and some people don’t like it because it isn’t always a pretty color. However, there are so many shades to choose from.  Yellow is a happy color and it gives off a very sunshiney feeling. It is the color of energy and hope, so if you are looking to have a fun wedding this is the color for you and your bridesmaids.

Dark red is a color that we can all agree is very beautiful. It represents love, passion, and courage, perfect for this day. White pairs very well with dark red, and it can be very flexible, so you could even consider doing different shades.

4. Think practical

Always make sure to think about weather conditions. If you are having your wedding in a hot place like the beach, make sure that your dresses aren’t too heavy. If it is in a more chilly place or in the fall, you don’t want to be shivering in your dresses so think of ways to make it work. Select dresses that your bridesmaids can wear again, if possible. Take into consideration your bridesmaids, and what looks good on them, and what is comfy. Making your bridesmaids wear things that they don’t like is not a great idea for your wedding. Select dresses that compliment your wedding dress, as mentioned in colors.
