There are jobs that require all different sorts of skills for parents who want to stay at home.

If you’re comfortable with the English language, there are many opportunities to work from home as a blogger, writer, or proofreader. Creating a lucrative blog takes time but can be both rewarding and profitable. A blog can be about any topic you know well, from your pervious career field, to parenting, to faith, to your local area. Freelance writing opportunities about any topic imaginable abound freely, as does the need for proofreaders. As a writer, blogger, or proofreader, you have a lot of control over your schedule, allowing you to put your children first.

If you’re creative and enjoy knitting, crafting, beading, painting, or other artsy activities, you may consider starting an Etsy shop to bring your wares to the world. Tutor

If you have special knowledge of a subject area and enjoy teaching, virtual or in-person tutoring could be an excellent stay-at-home job. Many parents put their experience as teachers or homeschoolers to use in their communities by running tutoring services out of their homes or signing up to be a virtual tutor. If you are on your own, you can set your own pay rates. If you choose to work through a service, rates will be set by the company and will vary depending on your experience.

Social Media Specialist

Many parents can put their knowledge of social media to profitable use as a social media specialist. Many companies need content curators and copywriters for their social media, as well as people to come up with social media strategies and monitor campaigns. Yes, “Pinterest Consultant” is a job that exists, and it involves helping individual bloggers and companies amp up their Pinterest game.

Data Entry

If you are more analytical and less creative, you can look into the field of data entry. You don’t need any special degree or training to do data entry. Being detailed oriented is the most important thing, as many businesses need people to enter and verify information. Typing skills are a good asset.

Many companies do an initial phone screening when hiring. This is often done remotely, by someone with at least a high school diploma. If you have a quiet space in your home to speak on the phone, being a telephone interviewer could be a great job.
