My kids and I love capybaras, and for a long time, we have talked about doing an experience with capybaras. We can’t remember the last time we have seen capybaras in person, and we have never been up close. I recently moved to North Carolina and found a fun interactive capybara experience about an hour from Raleigh.
I reserved the experience online. You pick a time and pay ahead of time, although I believe you can also pay on site. However, it seemed like most of the experiences booked up quickly, so it would be tough to know if you could get a spot.
The drive was easy to get to the farm, and is just over an hour from Raleigh.

There are many experiences to choose from at Liberty Acres, from viewing animals to interactions. We decided on “pumpkin carving with pumpkins” in October.
Experience the Joy of Capybara! and love on the largest rodent in the world! Spend an hour at the pond with Capybara, feed them, pet them and take memorable photos! Capybara are active all year long! Not much time in the water when it’s cold! Minor must be accompanied by a paid guardian.

There was plenty of parking, and we signed in and headed over to the capybara enclosure. There is a large area along the pond with numerous capybaras.

We were given a pumpkin with our entry, and we got to work feeding the capybaras!

There were full grown capybaras, as well as babies. They were all very cute and friendly!

I had so much fun with the capybaras. I have never been close to a capybara, no less able to pet one or feed it. They are very calm and fun to hang out with because they are so chill.

We did not carve any pumpkins because we were too busy feeding the capybaras. You can see they were busy polishing off the pumpkins!

In addition to the capybaras, there were many other animals and experiences to choose from. We would have stayed longer to see more animals, but we had some other commitments. The capybara experience was a bit of a splurge, but was on par with what other places charge.

Oh my gosh, they are the cutest. We’d love to visit. Capybaras are adorable–and so fluffy! A fabulous family activity.
I have to admit, I had to look up what a capybara is. I love feeding areas like this.
omg…I’ve never seen capybara before, never heard of it tbh…What a beautiful animal, sooo cute.
I am very jealous I would love to do this. There is a place near us that has capybara’s and they had a baby when I was last there. So cute
OMG, I NEED to do this! I’m obsessed with capybaras, and Liberty Acres is just so pretty. It’s everything I would want in an outing.
I think capybaras might be the most adorable creatures on the entire planet. There’s just something about their shapes that make me want to boop their snoots all day.
Those baby capybaras are too cute! I had to smile when you said the pumpkins ended up being snacks instead of carving projects. I would have been too busy feeding them, too! What a sweet way to spend an afternoon with your kids.
I have never really seen much about capybaras before! They are kind of cute, this looks like a fun time!
Great pictures and what a fun experience. The capybaras are so cute. I will have to look up to see what animal experiences there are near us, as the kids would love it!
OMG, capybaras are so cute! My kids also love them. I hope I can plan a visit like this so they can see them.
OMG, I love capybaras too but don’t recall ever seeing on so close up. That sounds like such an amazing experience. I bet the babies were adorable. I love that you got to feed and pet them too, you lucky thing!!!!
I do very much love capybaras as well! It’s so cool that you got to feed them and be so close to them.
This is so adorable and to be able to visit an area dedicated to Capybaras is wonderful. I don’t blame you fir nothing spening time carving the pumpkins, I would have done the sane thing; spend my entire visit feeding the Capybara families especially the littlest ones.
