We recently visited the town of New Paltz, New York, just off the New York Thruway between Albany and NYC. Nestled in the heart of New Paltz, New York, the Café offers cafe drinks and interaction with cats who are for adoption. Opened in July 2023, this small establishment is a unique place to visit. We try to visit any cat cafe we can when we travel.

The cafe is easy to find, on one of the main streets in New Paltz. With a bright exterior, it is cute and welcoming.

Beans Cat Café has a warm and inviting atmosphere. The café has a charming cat mural by artist Lianna Maley. There are plenty of spots to sit even if you are not going into the cat room.

The café offers a selection of dozens of beverages, including coffees, teas, chais, and lattes—some with playful cat-themed names. There are also some baked goods, such as muffins, croissants, and cute “Meow-carons,” featuring hand-drawn kitty faces.

There is a lot of cute merchandise there as well.

We have an old cat that we adopted, so I can relate to this sticker!

The Cat Lounge, where visitors can spend quality time with adoptable cats in a comfortable, air-conditioned space. The lounge is thoughtfully designed with various seating options and an array of cat toys and structures.

All cats at Beans Cat Café are available for adoption.

Since its inception, the café has facilitated several hundred adoptions, providing loving homes for countless cats.

If you visit, I recommend making a reservation for the Cat Lounge. Visitors can book 30-minute sessions for $8. While walk-ins are accommodated when possible, it’s recommended to book in advance to secure your preferred time slot. When we went, a large group had reserved the cat room, so we will go back another time.
