The winter months can be brutal for moving, as inevitably you will have to withstand some cold temperatures and possibly unpleasant weather. Even in good weather, hiring movers is a good idea! Keep an Eye on the Weather

This may be obvious, but it is good to keep an eye on the weather forecast and plan accordingly. It is also sensible to have an alternate backup plan as needed in case there is a blizzard, ice storm, etc. Prepare as much as possible for winter conditions, as it is almost guaranteed that you will be moving boxes, furniture, and more during winter conditions.

Protect Your Home

Whether you are moving out of a home, moving into a new home, or both, you will want to prepare your home for winter and protect these residences from things such as salt, snow, and ice being tracked inside.  You can take extra care by placing down mats or other floor coverings to reduce any damages.

Keep Driveways and Walkways Clear

Check that your home is running smoothly

Be sure that all utilities are in working order, from lights to heating. If you are moving into a new home, cold winter temperatures or a lack of light can impede or halt your move.  It is a good time to also check that pipes are not in danger of freezing.  For example, make sure that the heat is not completely turned off, and that pipes are appropriately insulated.
