Are you renovating your house? What do you have in mind? Everyone thinks of a beautiful dream house and I believe we all deserve one, too.

I’ve been doing interior design projects for seven years now. It’s something I absolutely love, designing dream houses for people. Nothing makes me happier than the satisfaction on my clients’ faces when they see the finished product.

If you’re renovating your house, you’ve come to the right place. In this article today, I’m going to provide you with a checklist of some amazing things you need to incorporate into your home.

Hiring an interior designer is quite expensive, so I’m going to make the job easier for you by giving you free tips and tricks to make your renovated house the home of your dreams. So let’s get this started:

Theme Selection

First and foremost, you need to choose a theme for your house. Renovating a house means redoing lots of things; for example, wall paint, woodwork, and more. When doing all such things, you must stick to a theme and color scheme.

There’s a simple rule I follow here. If you have a big house, you can go with darker hues. On the other hand, if you have a small house or a studio apartment, I suggest you go with lighter shades.

Light colors can make your space appear wide and open. It will provide your home with an appearance of a bigger house, more than it actually is. Start brainstorming now, and I’m sure you’ll come to it.

Floating Shelves

A floating shelf is one thing I always add to houses being renovated. Bigger shelves and cabinets look traditional but they’re not trending these days. Floating shelves, on the other hand, can give your space a contemporary look.

It’s no surprise that contemporary designs are trending nowadays. People are making every effort to modernize their existing spaces, so why don’t you try it as well? In fact, it’s easier for you since you’re in the middle of the renovation.

Ditch the large-sized, hefty cabinets and opt for floating shelves instead. They consume relatively less space while giving your house a spacious look and feel.

Miscellaneous Additions

There are a number of miscellaneous additions that you need to make to your new space. All these additions cannot be characterized under one heading; hence, miscellaneous.

Start with wall fixation. Whether it’s a plasma TV, a refrigerator, or a washing machine, get it fixed in the wall. The finishing look of wall-fixed appliances is different from the traditional ones. It can instantly make your space appear luxurious, which is the goal of renovation.

Other than that, please don’t forget to purchase an inverter generator. It will ensure that you never lack electricity. You can use it both indoors and outdoors as your backup power supply. I usually recommend grounding a portable generator so that it’s there and invisible at the same time.

Luxe Bathing

The kitchen and the bathroom are the two most important areas of your house; therefore, you must pay extra attention to their maintenance. Sadly, people generally ignore their bathrooms when renovating the house. It’s something I never like.

You can make a few little changes to your bathroom in order to make it appear extravagant like other things or else, what’s the point in renovating the house if you miss out on such significant things.

For this, you can add a new Gerber toilet, a granite countertop, a wall-sized mirror, a rain shower head, and more. If your budget allows, you can also purchase a jacuzzi. They can undoubtedly make your bathroom stand out. Luxury at its best!

Kitchen Garden

Having a kitchen garden in your house is a great addition and now that you’re renovating the space, I’d say you should definitely think about it. It can provide you with dual benefits.

For one, it will give you fresh produce, free of chemicals, and healthy. In addition, it can significantly add to the extravagance of your home. Just because it’s a kitchen garden, it doesn’t necessarily need to be close to the kitchen.

You can get it made between the kitchen and your living room or dining room and cover it with glass walls. Trust me; your house will become the talk of the town by following this simple step. It’s truly worth giving it a shot.

Decorate it

Once you’re done with the renovation of the house, the final step is to decorate it with love. There are a lot of things that you can do here.

Start with the lights; add some new lights to your home. A chandelier in the lounge, drawing, and dining room, if you have an open budget. If not, you can go for contemporary ceiling lights. The right kind of lighting can make a massive difference at the end of the day.

Besides that, invest a little in the artwork. Purchase a few paintings for those empty walls and get a mini sculpture for the foyer. I reckon that such art pieces are pretty expensive, but you need not worry. You can always go thrift shopping.

I’ve been to the thrift market a number of times and I’ve always managed to get my hands on some wonderful art pieces, including paintings, wall hanging ornaments, antique vases, and more. You must try it, too.

The Final Word…

Last but not least, I would like you to know that having a house of your own is the biggest blessing. You must cherish every minute of its renovation and make it the home of your dreams, as I mentioned earlier.

Also, please do consider making the additions I’ve shared above. Trust me; they’ll prominently upgrade your old house, which was once dull and boring. You can always add or subtract from the aforementioned things. It comes down to what you like and dislike.

I wish you all the best, my friends. Have a wonderful day ahead!
