First congratulations on becoming pregnant! Truth be told, there is nothing that can prepare you for the experience of pregnancy. Every pregnant woman will have a different experience, some smooth and easy, others not so much. The support of family members especially the husband obviously plays a huge role too. Here are some things that you will need to prepare for your nine months pregnancy ahead.

1. Look for a gynecologist

Needless to say, one of the most important person in your pregnancy journey is your doctor. Do take your time to look for a good gynecologist whom you feel comfortable with and can take you all the way till you give birth.

2. Find the right hospital to give birth in

Mid way into your pregnancy you should start looking for the hospital that you want to give birth in. Go for their maternity tour, talk to the staff, have a good feel of what is it like to be warded there. Speak to the medical staff stationed there if you have to to ensure that the hospital is the right one for you.

3. Prepare a hospital bag checklist

It is very important that you have all the things listed down that you need to prepare for birth. This is so when your water breaks, you can pick up your hospital bag and head straight to the hospital without worrying about what to pack. You can check out this hospital bag checklist for all the items that you need to prepare in advanced.

4. Take your vitamins

Folic acid has been scientifically proven to be beneficial for your and your baby. Do start taking the prenatal supplement if you have not already. If in doubt, do check in with your doctor who can advise you better.

5. Look for baby items

As you get closer to due date, you will have to look for baby items for your baby. This includes items for the baby nursery such as the baby cot and baby clothings. You will also have to look out for the different brands of milk powder and diapers for your baby when the little one is born.

6. Find fun things to do

We know, you are tired and feeling heavy all the time. But it is important to be able to go out and do fun and interesting activities while you can. Because with a child, your life is going to be so dramatically different.

7. Eat healthily

Do remember to eat healthily during your pregnancy because the baby will get all the nutrients from you. Avoid unhealthy junk food, eat nutrient rich foods and maintain a balanced diet. Eat foods rich in fibre and protein to help you during your pregnancy.
