When we moved to our first house, creating the perfect home for a family was our priority. One thing is making sure that our home is equipped with safety precautions. Fire safety is an important thing to us. For years, we have involved our kids in fire safety events.
October is Fire Safety month, and we always attend open houses at the local firehouses and are lucky to know several of the volunteer firefighters (some of which are neighbors!). We even had a fun neighborhood fire safety event recently – which, needless to say, was memorable!
It is so important to educate our kids about fire safety, so that they have the information they need in the event of an emergency. Whether we go to the firehouse for an event or a community event about fire safety, I know that my kids are picking up on information every time.
Not only do we promote fire safety through attending events, we also work to make sure our kids have practical experiences that will help them. For example, learning to cook safely, and knowing things like to not put water on a grease fire and instead use a fire extinguisher. Since cooking equipment is a top cause of home fires, we make sure that there is a good smoke alarm near the kitchen as well as a fire extinguisher nearby.
For our home, it is a priority that we purchase quality safety devices, and Kidde products are a perfect fit for us, as one of the world’s largest manufacturers of fire safety products. Kidde has a great line of products, like smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, and fire extinguishers. Their products are easy to find and install in your home.
With October being National Fire Prevention Month, it is a good reminder to make sure that your home is safe and equipped with all of the devices you need to keep your family safe. In our house, we have fire extinguishers, carbon monoxide alarms, and smoke alarms. We have relied on the Kidde line of products over the years, and will continue to do so.
Not only do I make sure we have Kidde fire safety products, but I use this month as a chance to make sure that all of our devices are up-to-date and working. Plus, it doesn’t hurt to get additional items – for example, this year I am making sure that we have more carbon monoxide alarms.
It is easy to find Kidde Fire Safety essentials at stores like The Home Depot or Walmart. I encourage you to use October as a reminder to make sure that your home is equipped with Kidde products and that your family not only has an escape plan, but has practiced it (as less than half of Americans have actually practiced a plan).

It’s so important that all family members are up to date on fire safety in the home. I think that’s a great idea to have a neighbourhood fire safety event!
Fire safety is so important and too many people overlook it sometimes. I am getting ready to move into my new home and I am ready to make sure my girls are ready and as safe as possible.
Oh gosh this is something we really need to think about soon! My son is almost 3.
Fire safety is so important. I love that these products are conveniently sold at some of my favorite stores.
We just changed our fire alarms! I always want my family to be safe. You just never know.
We just actually purchased 2 fire extinguisher from that brand last night. Fire safety is really important.
Our local fire department recently held a fire safety event at the nearby mall. It’s always great to learn how to protect our families.
Fire prevention is something to not be taken for granted. A company like Kidde really takes pride in their safety products.
In some condominium units, these fire safety equipment are required and necessary to be installed. It’s just right to be reminded to incorporate them as basic necessities in a home.
knowing what to do during a fire is a must especially for kids. this is a fun way of educating our kids. thanks for sharing!

Our community is more focused on earthquake drills. I think I will suggest a fire safety drill too. This is also very important especially if you have little kids in the house.
I’ve heard a lot of good things about Kidde products. They are so amazing. I will definitely check them out and will surely get this smoke alarm.
I think every house should have the alarms fitted as standard these days, and fire safety and precaution is something we all shoul dbe doing and educating our kids about
I absolutely loved reading this post. I had no idea October was fire safety month so I’m glad to have learned this information. It is so important to be aware of how to be safe in every way possible because life does happen. So glad to see the kids are having fun in these photos while learning about this serious stuff. Great post!
Fire safety is very important and this post helps to inform/remind people too. I like the idea of the Kidde Fire Safety essentials, and getting the family involved which is good too.
I recently bought a fire extinguisher for our home- I know I am so behind. We also have smart detectors and I love having that extra security.
We just tested our smoke detectors about a month ago. I’ve always taught my kids to get out the safest way if there is fire even if it is going out the window. I hope they remember what I’ve told them in the event of an emergency.
I volunteer with the Red Cross and we’ve been trying to promote awareness as well. Great information for parents with little kids.
I think this is such an important topic. My kids know about it, but it’s always a great reminder. I should talk with my kids again more about it.
It’s so important to make sure the whole family understands fire safety. I always make sure to have my alarms checked periodically.
Its important fie the family to know about fire safety so that in the time if any emergency they can take required actions.
This is a must and good quality smoke alarms is always our main priority when we purchase our home. This is the first time I heard about Kiddie Safety brand I definitely want to check this out.
We just installed some new smoke detectors after reading about a family who had a house fire. Thankfully, all of the people and pets made it out safely.
We’ve been working on fire safety lately. So important.
Super important. We checked everything like this right before our baby was born.
My husband and I have just been discussing updating our basement windows to egress windows for this reason. You can never be too cautious with kiddos in the home!
I think helping the kids getting to the point that they aren’t afraid of the firefighters really does help things in case of emergency. I would hate for them to hide.
Something we don’t always think about but it’s so important!
We have Kidde detectors all over our house. They’re excellent quality. We never use anything else.
It goes without saying that fire safety is a priority and everyone should be involved in emergency training.
I agree, that educating the children about fire safety and precautions are so important and installing a smoke detector device will definitely help us to be alarm and to do what need to be done in case of fire emergency.
This summer we upgraded our fire alarms. I always want my family to be safe. For peace of mind!
I’m glad that those days people explain how important is home safety’s. It’s really cool that all family members are involve in the procedure
It is always useful to know how to protect yourself in case of fire in the house
Thank you for creating awareness on fire safety, did not know that October was National Fire Prevention Month as well
It is very important to be prepared than being sorry. Thank you for that encouraging post – most of us tend to take home safety pretty lightly!
It is great that there are open houses as well as educational methods open to the public to make people knowledgeable about fire safety and the precautions they should take to prepare in the event a fire happens.
Fire safety is so important. Yet it’s often overlooked.

Agreed! Fire safety is so important and it’s often overlooked!
Teaching kids about fire safety is so important. My kids would enjoy visiting the fire station. Thanks for the reminder to check our smoke detectors too.
