International travel is a special experience. For some of us, it is affordable, but for many of us, it is a luxury. International travel is usually pricey, so it is a matter of saving up and searching for affordable flights and accommodations that fit your budget.
Here are some tips to help you save and reach your goals of international travel:
1. Do your research
The more you can research, the more you can learn about your destination and options for flights and hotels. By gathering as much information as possible, you can book your own trip and skip using a travel agent. You can easily book your own flight and save money as long as you know your facts.
2. Book Early
When you book early, you have your choice of rooms and flights. Ever try to book a last-minute vacation on the beach? The cost of a hotel room on the beach are usually through the roof! Keep this in mind when you plan your trip. Booking early has so many advantages, between time to research, your choice of flight and hotel, and
3. Find when flights to your destination are cheapest
Travel prices throughout the year depend on many factors. For example, flying to Mexico during hurricane season is risky, but being that it is the low season, prices are going to be least expensive. Hurricane season is not ideal, but there are a variety of factors that cause each destination to have low seasons that will be less expensive. When you do your research, you can figure out how to be strategic! For example, fly to Pakistan on Airblue, and travel during the low season, which offers cooler temperatures in normally hot regions.
Another factor to consider is the day of the week that you fly. Often, weekends are the cheapest, so you can save by traveling on a weekday instead.
4. Check out budget airlines
Consider all the airlines before coming to a final decision. By searching all airlines and not limiting yourself to one or just a few airlines, you can find cheap flights.
5. Travel light when possible
Baggage can add up quickly, so try to travel light when possible. Some destinations have ways to wash your clothes so that you don’t need to bring as much with you. You can also consolidate bags and share with those you are traveling with, and you can also carry your heavier items in a carry-on instead of in your checked luggage, which will be weighed.
These are just a few of the ways you can save on your international travel. By planning and saving, you can reach your travel goals!
I definitely need these tips. We are talking about planning a trip to England but it is pretty intimidating.
We always try and search via those budget airlines to see what would be the cheapest.
Traveling can be so stressful! Thanks for these tips!
I love to travel during the off-season to different places to take advantage of the great deals – for hotels too! These are great tips!

Some great suggestions here, I found out that if you book early, even up to a year the flight will be much much cheaper than book like a few months in advance
Yes to all of this! I would add that if your destination does NOT have washer/dryer, there are ways to pack smart so that you can travel with a minimum of clothes, and do a little hand-washing in the sink when appropriate, to make it for 2 weeks or more.
