Fall is one of my favorite times of year. The weather is cooler, the fall foliage is beautiful, and there are so many things we enjoy doing! I always try to fit in as many fall activities as possible.
Here are some of our favorites…
Apple picking
We go apple-picking every fall, and it is a tradition of ours. The orchards are usually a lot of fun this time of year, with wagon rides, fresh cider, cider donuts, etc.
Cool-weather camping
I like going camping in the fall, when the campgrounds aren’t packed and you get some nice, cool evenings to gather around the campfire. It’s nice to have a quiet getaway during the beginning of the school year.
Hiking
Fall is a great time to go hiking and enjoy the fall foliage. The weather can be so nice, with weather perfect for hiking – not too hot or cold, and usually not buggy.
Visit a nature center
Nature centers are a great place to learn about local ecosystems, check out local wildlife, and go on hikes.
Corn Maze
We have been to a couple of corn mazes with the kids, and I think I enjoy it as much as the kids! These mazes can be massive, and you can really get lost in them. It is nice to run around, enjoy the fall weather, and burn off some energy as well.
Make apple pie with freshly picked apples
Nothing like making pie with your fresh apples!
View fall foliage
It is nice to take a drive and enjoy foliage from the car and also from a nice vista (mountaintop, tall building, gondola, etc)
Visit a farm
We like visiting farms, which is a great way to check out local goods and see some farm animals as well.
Pumpkin picking
Pumpkin picking is one of our traditions. We pick our pumpkins and then get to work carving them when we get home.
Make homemade pumpkin seeds
Part of our pumpkin carving means saving all those seeds to roast! (Tip – boil them in salt water!)
Have a campfire and make s’mores
Cooler weather always makes me want to gather around a fire, warm up and enjoy the smell of the campfire.
Decorate for fall
We love fall decorating, from things like corn stalks and pumpkins, to scary decorations for Halloween.
Cook something hearty
Cooler weather always has me thinking about recipes like soup, chili, pumpkin bread, and more. It is nice to have some warm comfort food as we adjust to the colder temperatures.
I always try to fit in as many fall activities as possible.
Fall bucket lists are my favorite! I’m hoping we can get in a couple more hikes, I can’t believe summer is almost over.
Great fall bucket list. I would love to run around in a corn maze!
These are some wonderful ideas! Great for family fun
Can’t wait to go pumpkin picking with my kiddos! First time for my 8 month old.. won’t appreciate it yet but I sure will!
These all sound like so much fun!!! Your cool weather camping though, doesn’t sound freezing, but oh my it does sound a bit on the chilly side…;) I’ve always wondered what pumping picking is like coz it’s never been a thing wherever we’ve lived…and a corn maze is something I’ve never done either! Oh boy…I’ve got some things to add to my list…;)
I want to do it all! I am particularly stoked about this fall season after the long, hot summer we had here in OH!
These are all wonderful photos and such fun ideas for fall time. This is my favorite time of year.
