** Update: The Candle Collective appears to be closed permanently.
We recently attended a party at the Candle Collective located in Ballston Spa, New York. I had never heard of it before, but it was a lot of fun!
The Candle Collective is located on Prospect Street, right off the main street in downtown Ballston Spa. We parked behind the building and the door is located on an indoor hallway. Google Maps kept taking us to Ballston Spa High School, even though the street address was reading correctly, so just be aware if you use a map program to find your way that it is actually taking you to Prospect Street.
The Candle Collective is a large, open room with tables to work at.
The first step is picking out a candle. Since we were attending a birthday party, we had a few shapes picked out for us already to choose from.
Once the kids chose a shape, they had to select three colors of wax.
Once you have your colors picked out, you are ready to start filling your mold. You need to make sure the wick stays centered in the candle.
The kids used a tool to chop their wax into pieces, and then roll it in their hands to remove shavings and crumbs of wax.
They filled up their candle molds to the top, being careful to keep the wick in place. The top of the container actually becomes the bottom of the candle.
Before the final step of having our candle poured, you choose a scent. There are so many to pick from, and being about a month before Christmas, there were some really nice holiday scents as well (like gingerbread). My daughter went with Island Hibiscus.
The candle came out beautifully, and smells wonderful! I would like to go back some time with my kids and also with friends!

Such a cool shop and look like so much fun!
Candle Collective would be wonderful and fun to visit. I would enjoy designing my own candle and I am sure the scents are lovely.
How fun is this! I would totally make my candle smell liked baked goodies or Christmas time!
This would be fun to do! I think that My hubby and I would do this for a date night! I will have to see if they have something like this close to me!
So pretty! I would love to do something like this. I am all about candles. I have them all over the house.
I would love to make my own candle and this looks like such a fun place for a party. The candles are gorgeous!
This looks like a fun alternative to a painting party. I would much rather have a candle making party!
I remember that this same concept used to appear at carnivals when I was growing up. I looked forward to making one each year. I would burn my candle all year long and when it was time for a new one, I would toss the remainder of the candle away. I probably should have recycled. 🙂
This is something I and several of my friends would enjoy making. Wish we were closer
My kids would get a kick out of a place like this! I would take so much time picking a scent because I love so many of them. They would have a blast choosing the shape and the colours.

The Candle Collective seems like a nice place to head with kids. Really exciting to see that kids get to make their own candles. Remember playing around with wax and moulds as a kid.
