Ever since my kids were little, I have been on a mission to find music the whole family can enjoy. Josh Lovelace is also on a mission – to create music that both children and their parents can enjoy together!
Josh Lovelace plays keyboards in the Grammy-nominated rock band NEEDTOBREATHE, and in 2017 released his first solo album of children’s music. He had wanted to create children’s music for some time, and the album was inspired by his passion to produce music for all ages. As a father, he is also inspired by his children, and it is nice to see artists who are parents creating music for kids. “Young Folk” is an album to celebrate everyday life, from eating your veggies to a song about Daddy’s beard. Lovelace is relatable as a father and it makes it easy for kids and families to engage in the music.
Young Folk has a very laid-back vibe that I love. With our busy, busy days, it is nice to have some music that is really feel-good. We always seem to be running somewhere, and between work, school, and all our other activities, Young Folk has a way of putting you in a good mood.
The lyrics on this album are happy and positive, with uplifting messages and feelings. It has a great folk music feel to it, and is so warm and inviting. Guest vocalists join Lovelace on some of the tracks as well, giving the album a variety of vocals.
If we have this playing in the house, it’s not the kind of music I have to “remember to turn off” when the kids are done listening to it. Perfect music for the car, as well, because it has just the right vibe.
