When I hear the name Amy Lee, it brings me back a few years, as I have memories of listening to Evanescence starting in the early 2000’s. It is exciting to listen to Amy Lee performing her first children’s album, now that she is a mom!
“Dream Too Much” is an album the whole family can enjoy, and has a variety of music, from slower songs to sillier ones. While the title of the album mentions dreams, this is not a lullaby album, and we have been enjoying listening to our CD at home and in the car too.
Amy Lee has an unmistakable voice, which perfectly suits these children’s songs. It is nice to relate to a singer both as an adult and with my kids.
Check out the video for “Dream Too Much”, the second song on the album (and my personal favorite!).
This song is downright addicting! I can’t stop singing along, and I find myself singing it at random points in my day. The lyrics are pretty funky, which makes it fun.. and funny when I am singing about sleeping muffins under my breath while I am busy at work!
There’s a monkey in my bed
The muffins are sleeping
And the tigers in the sand, oh no
Well, the grapes keep raining down
And everyone is eating
But another train is rolling into town
There are 12 songs on this album, which includes lots of original songs and also some familiar ones (like Rubber Duckie and Hello Goodbye). A lot of Lee’s inspiration comes from her 2-year old son, Jack, and it is interesting to see how motherhood has shaped her musical career. How great that she used inspiration as a parent to create “Dream Too Much”.
Evanesence had a couple of really great songs, Amy Lee has a great voice. I had no idea she had put out a children’s album.
