Reading with my two girls has always been something special that started when they were very little. “Under the Barnyard Light” is a new children’s book from Carla Crane Osborne that is one of those great additions to your child’s library and story time routine.

This lovely book has amazing illustrations by Brandon Dorman. I knew as soon as we opened the book, just how special it was, between the beautifully written story, and the accompanying images.

Under the Barnyard Light is a story about a young girl who needs to feed the animals during a cold, dark winter. The book has a wonderfully cozy feel to it as the main character bundles up and visits the different animals. There are so many great details in this book, from catching snowflakes to taking warm bottles of milk to the calves.

The illustrations are perfectly paired with the story, and somehow it makes you feel magically transported to the barnyard.

This book really makes you feel like you are there in the barnyard. I love the story of a girl helping her dad, bonding with the animals, and working on a cold winter’s night.
