Welcome to Party Planning 101! There’s always excitement surrounding a party. Regardless of whether you’re planning a birthday celebration, a baby shower, a charity event or a bachelor party, there are a few things you need to know that will take the party you host to the next level. When you’re planning a party, you want it to be a celebration to remember, so here are our top 5 things every memorable celebration needs.

How to Throw a Killer Fourth of July Party

1. Space

A clean space that is large enough to hold all of your guests and all of your fun. If you’re planning on having a DJ and dance floor, a dedicated food area or table seating, sufficient space is a must-have. You can rent a hall or a facility, or you can borrow someone’s home if yours can’t handle the guest list or activity.

2. A Great Activity

Every good party needs a great activity. Whether it’s an escape room, a comedian or game night, having a planned activity is one of the better ice breakers and time fillers. Having an activity allows you some time to set up for food, a toast or something else special. It also gives you the ability to have some fun too. Party planning can sometimes mean you miss some of the fun of the party.

3. Good Food

What’s a celebration without food? You don’t have to serve a 4-course meal (unless you really have your heart set on it) but you should consider having something light at the very least. Nuts, cheese, crackers, fruit, party punch, and veggies can do the trick. If you’re being budget-conscious or you’re just not able to handle the food preparations, a potluck is a great solution. Serving food buffet style allows you a little more freedom than being the server. And if you need quick and easy food for an impromptu party, here are a few ideas.

4. Drink Station

A party without drinks isn’t much of a party. Drinks don’t have to be alcoholic, but some sort of beverage should always be available. When you’re serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, be sure to have separate tables or label them appropriately. You can keep it simple by having one of each and water. This eliminates confusion and frees up some space. Of course, you could hire a bartender to handle the drink station, but if you’d rather not, try some of these awesome party cocktails.

5.Parting Gift

Make a lasting impression with a take away favor. Homemade items like cookie mixes, photo frames or lip balm convey a heartfelt appreciation for your attendance. Custom printed glasses, candles, candy and manicure sets are other options that say, “Thanks so much for coming.” Party favors don’t have to break the bank or be super fancy. A photo booth is loads of fun and gives your guests something to take home with them to cement the memory. The takeaway can even be as humble as an invitation or plan to get together again soon.

There are lots of little things that can make a party one of a kind, but we hope that these few tips bring a smile to the faces of your guests. A party is all about good times with friends and family, making new friends and unforgettable memories. The act of coming together for a common purpose is part of the magic of being human, so do your part to make every celebration one for the record books.
