I am always striving to eat healthier, but there are always challenges. From finding the time to plan healthy meals to finding quality organic ingredients, Farmbox has the products I am looking for.
Farmbox can deliver organic produce directly to your home. Over the years I have been so frustrated with finding good produce, whether it was because I had a newborn and a toddler, or because our local stores just didn’t have what I was looking for. The founder of Farmbox, Ashley, started this company for the same reasons I crave fresh, organic foods.
After I became a mother I really began to pay very close attention to exactly what was in the food not only I was eating, but also what I was feeding my daughter. I was a busy NYC working mom, I didn’t always have time to make a weekly trip to my local farmers market to pick up the freshest and local, items for my kitchen…Our promise is to bring you the freshest produce available. We spend many hours sourcing the best Organic, and Natural produce available to bring to your doorstep. We believe in farm to table, the way food should be!
My Farmbox arrived amazingly fast… and also just at the right time. We had been out of town for 9 days, with heaps of laundry to do, a messy house and a half-empty fridge.
The produce arrived all very carefully wrapped. There is padding in all four sides of the box as well as the top and bottom., and there are several ice packs to keep your shipment cold. I was concerned this package would get delivered on a hot day and sit on my porch in the sun, and indeed it did – but that was not an issue. The ice packs were still, in large part, frozen, and the produce was all cool to the touch. And everything was in great shape!
Opening my Farmbox felt like Christmas day! I was excited to go through the box and see what I had gotten. I love that there was a variety of fruit and vegetables, and that there are some less usual items, like purple potatoes and an apricot. Not to say that those aren’t something I haven’t seen or bought before – but finding those organic products near me can be difficult.
We dug right in to the Farmbox. My daughter ascended on the kiwi, which is hard to find organic around here. Or maybe you can relate to me – when I do find organic fruits, they are often in pretty rough shape. I make do and make smoothies with a lot of stuff, but still frustrating nonetheless.
Before I even finished unpacking the box, I washed and seeded the sweet red pepper and ate it as a snack.
The fresh spinach was great for both adding to smoothies and then sautéing the rest (so good!).
We enjoyed every last item in the box, and it made eating healthy much easier. Even though it is summer and fresh fruits and veggies are more accessible, I have no time for going to the farmer’s market or driving to find quality organic goods. We are so busy in the summer so most days are running from one activity to another, and then traveling on weekends, and I love the convenience of this service!
The quantities of everything worked out perfectly for us, as we munched on fruit throughout the week and added the vegetables to our meals. Often times I found myself grabbing some fruit instead of something less healthy or processed. There are multiple size boxes available, and I reviewed the small box ($38.95):
The perfect size for a lone vegan or vegetarian, a couple who only eat out 3 to 4 times a week, or someone who just wants to start eating healthier. There are enough veggies for 3-4 meals and if you find you have food leftover, the Small Harvest box is the perfect amount to ensure a piece for breakfast and/or lunch each day. All the fruits and veggies in this box are 100% Organically grown.
I am extremely pleased with my Farmbox, which showed up much faster than I anticipated. Everything came in perfect condition and I love how much variety there is.
