We do a lot of traveling, and it can be tough to eat healthy on the road. I find it frustrating to be on the road and eating more junk, and then not feeling at my best when we are traveling. Traveling is hard enough, without struggling with feeling the effects of eating poorly.
Here are some of my tips for eating healthier when you travel.

Pack your own snacks.
Pack healthy snacks such as trail mix, nuts, fruits, and protein bars. This will prevent you from buying unhealthy snacks from airport shops or gas stations.
Choose healthier options when eating out
Look for healthier options on the menu such as salads, grilled items, and steamed vegetables. Avoid fried or sugary items.
Avoid drinking alcohol or sugary beverages
Alcoholic beverages can add empty calories and slow down your metabolism. Sugary beverages aren’t good for you, and aren’t a good way to hydrate.
Stay hydrated with water
Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your body hydrated and energized.
Exercise
Make time for physical activity, even if it’s just a quick walk around the block or a few sets of push-ups in your hotel room.
Take advantage of fresh, local foods
If you can, look for foods that are locally sourced and healthy, such as fruits or vegetables from the farmer’s market.
