Europe is a wonderful combination of pretty little towns, cobbled-stoned alleys, lush green meadows, vibrant cities, historical monuments, and the most charming people. The beauty of this incredible continent has always enthralled me and when I finally landed here I realized that it was far more beautiful that I could have ever imagined it.
Rome, Italy
The country’s spellbinding scenery, jaw-dropping monuments, rich cultural heritage, love for art, fashion, and film, and charming people attracted me most about Italy. Rome was my destination of choice because I had always been fascinated by its history and a visit to the Colosseum, The Parthenon, St. Peter’s Basilica, and the other attractions here truly exceeded my expectations. Rome also has these incredible museums and those at the top of my list was the Capitoline Museum and The National Museum of Rome.
Florence, Italy
This city is a perfect amalgamation of breathtaking landscapes, incredible architecture, and beautiful artworks. Florence has too many attractions and it is impossible to see all of them in one trip. But what truly caught my attention was the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and Piazza Duomo. I took a leisurely walk around the Square just so I could admire the intricate works on the facade of the Cathedral. When I entered what struck me most was the beauty of the stained glass windows and the incredible collection of artworks that was displayed in the Museum.
Zermatt, Switzerland
My Switzerland tour package will take me to some truly incredible places in this beautiful country and I was looking forward to it. My first stop was the enchanting village of Zermatt and its incredible sights simply blew my mind. Motorized vehicles are banned here so I explored the main town in a horse-drawn carriage. I wanted to get a good view of the Matterhorn so I took the Funicular to the Sunnegga viewpoint.
Interlaken, Switzerland
My next stop in this country according to my Switzerland tour package was Interlaken. As my visit was in the summer I got the opportunity to enjoy several outdoor activities and took an excursion to Jungfraujoch – The Top of Europe. The Eiger Express took about an hour and a half to get from Interlaken to Jungfraujoch and I could spend the whole day exploring the wonders of this stunning place. Interlaken is a fantastic place for adventure lovers and my white water rafting experience was absolutely thrilling.
Amsterdam, Netherlands
My Europe trip wouldn’t have been complete without a visit to the country of museums, canals, and tulip gardens. Amsterdam was as beautiful as ever and the prospect of exploring its unmatched attractions filled me with great curiosity and excitement. I had already listed the places I wanted to visit as I didn’t want to lose any time. I explored the Rijksmuseum, the Anne Frank House, and other places with wide-eyed wonderment. I indulged myself in a classic boat cruise with cheese and wine served onboard. The one thing I enjoyed the most was renting a bicycle and exploring the city like a local. One more exciting addition to my tour was a day trip from Amsterdam to the Keukenhof Gardens and the experience was simply fantastic.
Utrecht, Netherlands
What attracted me most to Utretch is its medieval architecture and its old-world charm. This is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands and the major attraction here is the St. Martin’s Cathedral or Doms Church as it is popularly known. Attached to the Cathedral is the Dom Tower and the view from the top was indescribable. Doms Church is one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture I have seen and its beauty is simply breathtaking.
Paris, France
The rich cultural heritage, the food, the wine, and its incredulous history of France have always piqued my interest and on this Europe trip, I intended to satisfy my curiosity about this country as much as I can. Like every other traveler I wanted to experience the magic of Paris so that was where I headed first. I explored as much of this city as I could; right from the Eiffel Tower to Arc de Triomphe to the Louvre Museum and many more. I went up to Montmartre to enjoy a spectacular view of the city. The best thing to do in Paris is to enjoy a cuppa at a sidewalk cafe and indulge in some people watching which I did.
Côte d’Azur or the French Riviera
This is the beach destination of celebrities and millionaires from around the world. This glamorous stretch of stunning coastlines and azure blue waters and mesmerizing blue skies is without a doubt one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. I visited Nice to experience a part of the good life and also visit the incredible museums such as the Musée Matisse. This museum holds quite an impressive collection of one of the most famous French artists, Henri Matisse. I spent a relaxing day at a beautiful public beach in Saint Tropez before heading back to the city.
Barcelona, Spain
Scenic towns, vibrant cities, beach resorts, fantastic monuments and incredible food was what I had expected out of my trip in Spain. It turned out to be so much more than what I had expected. My first stop was in Barcelona and of all the fantastic attractions here the Sagrada Familia and Park Guell took my breath away. The Sagrada Familia because of its stunning architecture and the Park for its incredible creative expression. Besides the major attractions I also made a point of exploring the Gothic Quarter with its many bars and restaurants. This is one of the oldest parts of Barcelona and it showcases 2000 years worth of captivating history and old world charm.
Seville, Spain
Seville in Spain is a haunt for history lovers and I am definitely one of them. The incredible architecture of the monuments in Seville is truly worth visiting. The unique mix of Spanish Baroque, Islamic designs, Moorish influences and Gothic styles can be seen in many of the prominent monuments. The one that fascinated me the most was the Seville Cathedral which is one of the largest Gothic Cathedrals in the world. However, I must say, the best way to explore this wondrous city is by taking a bike tour. The experience was incredible and our guide was quite a knowledgeable one making our tour a wonderful learning expedition.
