We have visited Tawasentha Park for years, enjoying trails, walks, the pool, and more.  This is a town park, and while residents are free, non-residents need to pay an entry fee during regular park hours, and an additional fee for use of the pool as well.

The park is easy to find.  From Albany, take Western Ave (Route 20) to Route 146 West.  Tawasentha Park will be on your left as you head towards Altamont.  There is a large loop that goes around the park with many places to park.

We have been to Tawasentha countless times just to walk around and enjoy the park.

There are open areas to take leisurely walks, such as a garden areas.

There is also an actual trail system around the park.  You can check out the trail map here.  There are approximately 5 miles of trails to check out.

There are plenty of picnic tables and grills around the park.  Since everything is so spread out, this is a great way to spend time with people during the Coronavirus pandemic, as there is plenty of space.

My kids have also enjoyed the playground for years here.  I have noticed they have had a problem with ground bees for many years (as long as I can remember – over 10 years!), but somehow the bees don’t seem to react to people.

The Normanskill River snakes through the park, and is a nice place to walk down to, fish, or explore.

There is a pool open here in the summer.  The pool is very nice, with a new, large pool house.  However, we have noticed that the pool is often quite busy, with no parking nearby, so my tip is to plan accordingly.  We are residents to the area, but have left the pool many times without even trying to go in, because the parking lots were overflowing and the pool was too packed for our liking.

There are different events at the park throughout the year, like National Night Out.

Tawasentha is a great place to get outdoors and enjoy what the park has to offer.
