I received a copy of this CD in exchange for my honest review.
Over the years, we have enjoyed a variety of children’s music from Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer. With over 35 years of experience in the music field, Cathy and Marcy are children’s music GRAMMY Award winners! “Zoom a Little Zoom” is their newest album, which is science-themed and teaches kids lots of great things, from astronomy to biology.
Zoom A Little Zoom! A Ride Through Science is the latest kids and family recording by children’s music GRAMMY® Award winners, Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer. Great music comes first with the “Constellation Jig”, a Klezmer treatment to the hibernating “Bobo the Bear” and western swing of “Why Does the Sun Shine?”. Boogie-woogie to “What Makes the Lightning?” or learn how to sound like a cricket with “What Is An Insect?”.
The songs are all so catchy, with interesting lyrics that make it fun to sing along and learn. Not only are the songs entertaining, but each has a unique style, which keeps the album even more engaging.
The Constellation Jig is the perfect astronomy soundtrack. Cathy and Marcy absolutely capture the essence of space in this song!
In the Zodiac you’ll find a dozen constellations.
You can trace them in the sky with just a little patience.
Leo, Virgo, Scorpius and Gemini and Taurus;
These are five, now who can name the other seven for us?
“Why Does the Sun Shine” answers your burning questions (!) about the Sun!
The Sun is mass of incandescent gas,
A gigantic nuclear furnace,
Where hydrogen is built into helium
At a temp’rature of millions of degrees.
All of the songs on this album are filled with interesting information, and I love how the songs take kids on so many different adventures in science. Not only do the songs inspire learning, but there are activity guides to accompany each and every song! Check those out on Cathy and Marcy’s website here.
