For many years I have tried to avoid plastics with food or drink, only buying BPA-free or not using it at all when possible. However, time and time again, I am reminded about the scary chemicals that still leach out of plastics. Just because they are BPA-free doesn’t mean that there aren’t other dangerous things like endocrine disruptors ending up in your water. One of my favorite alternatives to plastic is glass, because it doesn’t leach, and I also prefer glass over stainless steel because I like to see inside my water bottle.
Water bottles have been a challenge for us. I usually want something durable, whether it is for home or the gym, but I don’t like stainless for hydration since I like to see into my water bottle (and surprisingly, aluminum and stainless bottles may also leach). Glasstic Water Bottles are a solution to my problems, with a durable plastic exterior and a glass interior. In the past, I have actually had people express concern about my glass water bottle. Glasstic can go places where glass bottles aren’t allowed!
These bottles come in a variety of nice designs, and I spent quite some time poring over the options before coming to a decision. You can choose from plain bottles or ones with designs, and different color caps.
I chose the “Love” bottle with pink cap, since I really liked it and I figured my daughter might like it this summer when she goes to summer programs. Of course I underestimated how much she would like it, since she snatched it from me as soon as it arrived in the mail!
The bottle has a nice design and a compact size, so it fits easily in the side pocket of my bag or in the cup holder in the car.
I also like that the lid stays up while you are drinking, so no worries about it getting in the way (or hitting your nose) while you are drinking. There is also a plastic look at the back so that it makes it easy to carry the bottle.
Another great feature is that it can be disassembled and is dishwasher safe. I love how durable it is and easy to clean.
I am loving my Glasstic bottle – it is such an easy way to make sure you are drinking from the safest possible drinking vessel. No possibility of leaching and no possibility of being exposed to broken glass. I wish this bottle had been around years ago!
