Like most women, every summer I update my wardrobe. When the weather starts to warm up you, naturally, want to change the way you dress, which, of course, is the perfect excuse to hit the shops.

Summer Essentials

Most years, I buy one or two new blouses or shirts, and I have been browsing online to see what is around this year. There are some really great looking options available, and quite a few interesting trends. As a result, I thought I would share what I found with you.

Textures are back

When you go shopping for new tops at Vibe Clothing Company Boutique, the first thing that will strike you is how many textured fabrics designers have used. There are lots of crinkle style materials being used, as well as lace and embroidered fabrics.

Brighter colours

After several years, where the colour palette has been muted things are starting to change. Much brighter colours are being used, especially hot colours like red and pink. Dark blue and green also feature quite heavily, but only in a few collections.

Longer lengths

The lengths are longer than they were last year. Most finish mid-thigh. This is a flattering length that will work well for most women.

There are also some lovely kimono style tops available. They would be ideal for taking on holiday with you. Most are made from super lightweight materials, so they will pack down small. In fact, they are the kind of top you could stick in your handbag, to put on when the sun goes down and it starts to get a little chilly.

Nods to the 90s and the 60s

This year, there has already been a lot of chatter about 90s fashion coming back into style. Without a doubt, there is a lot of truth in this assertion. Jumpsuits and playsuits are back in vogue and loose-fitting, high-waisted stone wash jeans are everywhere. However, when it comes to blouses and tops things get a bit more muddled. You can certainly see hints of the 90s in some designs. For example, there are lots of baggy, button up, print shirts available.

However, the tunic tops I was speaking about above have more of a hippy, 60s vibe. It is a weird combination of styles, but they both work well with practically any cut of skirt, shorts or trousers. So, this year you can enjoy two different, and very distinctive, looks.

Cold and off the shoulder blouses

For the warmer days there are some lovely cold shoulder style tops, and off the shoulder blouses. There is also a good choice of strappy cami tops available. These are ideal for wearing under a thin blouse to make sure your bra does not show through. Wearing these cami style tops make it possible for you to remove a layer of clothing if the sun comes out later in the day.

It really does not matter what look you are trying to achieve, you should find it relatively easy to find the right type of blouse or shirt. There is plenty of choice.
