Now that my kids are getting older, we enjoy going on some longer hikes.  However, it was nice to have short hikes to go on when they were younger.

Ashford Glen is a very short hike located right in Schenectady, NY, and is one I would recommend for parents with toddlers.  The Mohawk Conservancy website describes this trail as “Less than 1 mile of easy walking trail“.

It is easy to find the preserve, which is located in a residential neighborhood.

There was plenty of parking along the road, in a quiet neighborhood.  There were signs warning us to be careful not to park on the grass.

There is a trailhead with information.  I don’t remember if we saw a map there, and I did not see one online either.  However, the trail is quite short, and is a quick in and out of the woods.

The trail seems well-maintained.

The trail is a very easy stroll through the woods, and the paths are wide (good for social distancing).

Not far in, there was a sign saying that we had reached the end of the preserve, so we headed back.

We saw some spring wildflowers along the way.

We were done with this walk in a very short amount of time.

While it is a relaxing walk, it is probably not worth the drive unless you are nearby and have younger children.
