We recently had been hearing a lot about Dalgona Coffee, so we decided to give it a try and make some at home.  I had never heard of it before, but I really enjoy coffee, plus this is an easy recipe.  We even had all the ingredients at home already.

This recipe requires a few easy ingredients!  You can use regular or decaf versions of instant coffee.

To make the whipped foam, use equal parts of:

  ~ Instant Coffee
  ~ Sugar
  ~ Hot water

I have heard you can mix this by hand, which I would recommend only if you don’t have a hand mixer.  We tried that on our first attempt and it was a little frustrating.  We also tried a milk frother, which I use for so many things – however, it did not work well for this.

I have a small Braun hand mixer, which works perfectly.  We mix it right in a measuring cup.  You could probably do it in a bowl, but I wanted something with higher sides so as not to make a big mess if it splatters.

Start by mixing your hot water, sugar, and instant coffee, until blended (at a lower speed).

Then, continue at a higher speed until the mixture thickens.  The whole process only takes a few minutes.

To prepare your beverage, you will need:

~ milk (approx. 1/2 cup)
~ ice (optional)

We like to use an organic milk like Organic Valley.

Simply spoon the whipped coffee on top of your milk.

Enjoy your drink!  I either swirl the coffee with the milk, or drink with a straw, mixing as I go.
