We love finding new places to explore and swimming holes to cool off in during the summer.  Here are some of the swimming holes we have visited in Vermont (in alphabetical order).

Bristol Falls

Bristol Falls Swimming Hole, Bristol, VT – this is a very popular swimming hole in Vermont, so if you go on a hot afternoon or weekend, prepare for it to be busy!  Lots of places to jump from rocks.

Buttermilk Falls, Ludlow, Vermont

Buttermilk Falls, Ludlow, VT – several falls and swimming holes to explore.  Lots of places to jump from rocks.

Falls of Lana

Falls of Lana, Salisbury, VT – this involves a little hike and some traversing over rocks, probably better for older kids

The Lareau Park and Swimming Hole, Waitsfield, VT – one of the calmer, low-key places we have visited with a lot of open water to enjoy.  Good for younger kids.

Moss Glen Falls Trailhead, Granville, Vermont

Moss Glen Falls, Granville, VT – a beautiful place not far from the road.  Not very large, but would make for a good place to cool off.

PIkes Falls Swimming Vermont

Pikes Falls, Jamaica, VT – fun place to explore, and there are some spots you can jump from rocks.

Queechee Gorge, Norwich, VTQueechee State Park, Norwich, VT – this involves a hike down to the gorge, with some spots you can jump from rocks.  The hike back is all uphill, so prepare for a haul back to the car or campground.
