15 Causes of Diarrhea in Dogs

Having a sickly pet is quite stressful, and we can all agree that it is also quite a health hazard to you too. You know what it is like to feel sick – just imagine the same feeling for your best friend.  As always prevention is better than a cure, and these are some of the things that you can look out for to know what really happening when your dog has diarrhea.

  1. Water

This is the leading cause of diarrhea not only in dogs but also in human and in other creatures. This is because the body has a very high component of water, and once a dog drinks dirty water, this will definitely be problematic.

  1. Food

What better is there to cause poisoning or illness than through the food? As much as food is essential it can be used against the body at any moment. If you realize that your dog is sickly and in this case diarrhea you can check on the food and also look at the hygiene of the feeding place.

  1. Contamination

Diarrhea is definitely not a sign of cleanliness and purity, but rather it is a sign of contamination of whatever the dog is taking. It may actually be in the added stuff that you give to your dog.

  1. Parasites

Having a parasite in the body causes many issues. A parasite can trigger different reactions, and as we all know parasites cause unpleasant effects.

  1. Diet

Research your dog’s dietary needs and try as much to give it the healthiest foods. Cut out people foods and unhealthy treats. 

  1. Antibiotic use

This has been medically proven that antibiotics may be going against the chemistry of the body and just as some of us are allergic to medicine with sulfur.  This situation is also applicable to dogs.

  1. Mixed diet

Once you feed your dog it is good to be observant on what you give it and with what schedule do you do it. Pay attention to how your dog reacts to a certain meal. You can then pinpoint when your dog is sickly in particular.  If you see mucus in your dog’s stool, this should cause alarm, and you’ll want to take action.

The pancreas has many functions among which are to regulate enzymes, and once it gets to be faulty, your dog will exhibit deteriorated health of your dog, diarrhea being just one of the signs.
