Dog on the Floor Raffi

I received a copy of this CD in exchange for my honest review.

I have been a fan of Raffi since I was a kid, and it’s fun to have those memories of going on long road trips with my cousins listening to Raffi.  Now we go on road trips with our own kids, listening to Raffi’s old and new music from over the years.  I’m proud to consider myself a “Beluga Grad” – someone who listened to Raffi’s music as a child and now listen with my own children. (Be sure to check out Raffi’s thoughts on Beluga Grads making the world a better place!)

Out this July 2018, Raffi has released his 25th album, “Dog on the Floor”!  This is an album of new and original music, which is a treat after Raffi’s long hiatus and 2014 album, “Love Bug”.

I love his relaxed style of children’s music, which have a mellow vibe that can be enjoyed by the whole family.  Although laid back, these songs are catchy and engaging, which is refreshing as a parent to have music that doesn’t rely on tactics like sound effects or screeching that are too often the case with children’s music.  In an age with so much technology, I think it is easy for kids to be overstimulated between toys that light up and make noise, to screen time and constant noise.

Raffi

You can easily recognize Raffi’s voice on these albums, as well as his gentle style.  It is amazing that he has produced so much original music over the years!  It brings me back to my childhood and I love seeing Raffi’s music stretch over generations.

“I feel I’m at my musical best these days,” he says. “I’m as musically engaged and creative as ever. And it’s wonderful to be able to say that.”

Not only does the music have such a welcoming sound, the album is full of positive lyrics and messages.  “Dog on the Floor” shows Raffi’s love and respect of animals, and there are just so many great thoughts on the album.
