Songs of Peace & Love

I received a copy of this CD in exchange for my honest review.

I had never heard of the group Ladysmith Black Mambazo, but the title “Songs of Peace & Love” caught my eye when I saw this album.  There have been so many negative things going on in the world lately, some peace and love are what we need.

“With our new album, we want to share our songs of peace and love with the little ones.” “We want parents to have a collection of songs to listen with their kids, songs that hold important messages. We know, first hand, how hard it is to raise children in a world of conflict, in a world where children need positive role models and positive words. We hope our songs can be an important part of the lessons of peace and love that all parents want to impart to their children.” ~ group member Albert Mazibuko

The songs on the album are all very warm and welcoming, and a great way to bring some positivity to your day.  Ladysmith Black Mambazo is an a cappella vocal group that has been around for over 50 years, and this is a great CD for the whole family.  While I find some children’s music can be irritating, the harmonies on this album are both uplifting and relaxing.

There are lots of great original songs on this album.  And one of the songs is “Old McDonald Zulu Style”.  What a fun song, and as the narrator says, “I bet you have never heard it sung in Zulu!”.
