Home Gym Equipment

Getting into a consistent workout routine is hard enough without worrying about paying a fortune for equipment or gym memberships, but there are a few ways that you can get into shape on any budget.

If you want to build a gym in your own home but are worried about the costs, there is plenty of equipment that will get you into shape without breaking the bank. There’s no need to take out a large loan or save for months before starting your home gym if you look for great pieces of affordable equipment. Here are some pieces that you should think about buying to start your own home gym.

A Pull Up Bar

Pull ups are a classic exercise that helps build upper body strength. The good news is that you can take advantage of this great workout just by using a doorway pull up bar.

Pull up bars like these are designed to fit snugly into any doorway so you have an instant place to workout. You want to check out some of the specs on each bar before buying, such as the weight limit and the versatility of grip positions as well as the mounting requirements for your doorframe. You may need to do a little maintenance if your house is older and you are unsure of the sturdiness of your doorframes, but other than that, you’ll be good to start working out as soon as you have the bar.

A few minutes each day on a pull-up bar will really start to show improvement in just a few weeks.

Free Weights

While a large set of free weights can set you back several hundred dollars, you can purchase a few essential weights for less than one hundred.

Free weights are a great way to tone muscles and enhance your aerobic workouts by using light weights for added training. If you want to take full advantage of free weights, however, you should also look into buying a workout bench. As with the weights, you don’t have to find the best bench out there: you can even buy a used one as long as it’s in good, safe condition. Then you’ll have the flexibility to do many more exercises and really take advantage of the free weights.

Classic Exercises

If you really want to save money and start exercising, you can do so for free. Remember all of the classic exercises you did in school to stay in shape? Those will still work when you’re an adult!

Sit ups, push ups, jumping jacks, planks and burpees all require zero equipment to perform. All you need is a little space to move and you’re all set. There’s no need to spend any money if you don’t want to in order to get a great, effective workout.
