Having a business, especially a small business, can take a lot of work to promote.  Between working during the day and then working at home, taking care of my kids and spending time with family, it takes a lot of time and effort to keep up with everything.

While some things are a luxury to have, others are essentials.  So here are my tips for some must-haves for easily promoting your business:

Establish a website

If you have a business, a website is a must.  Whether you are a blogger, small local business, or a bigger business, this is a go-to landing place for customers.  Just having a place to see what you are about is vital for your customers.  For brick-and-mortar stores, you want people to know right where to find you and when you are open, and contact information. For online businesses or bloggers, customers are going to want to know more and how to contact you.

Social Media

Social media is such a key aspect of a business.  I am always shocked when a business doesn’t have at least one kind of social media source, like a Facebook page.  I see first hand all the time how social media is a great way to spread the word through friends, family, and so many others.  The power of social media is amazing – so use it to your advantage!  Countless times, I see how quickly social media really does work.

Personalized Products

Get your name out there with personalized products.  Something as simple as personalized pens can help spread the word and serve as a reminder for people.  Pens are great because you can offer these as freebies, but you could also have larger items like mugs or totes if you can afford it or if you are hosting an event, etc.  How many times have you thought to yourself that you needed to remember something in particular – yet later, you couldn’t remember it?  What better way to have a visual reminder of your business name.
