Raising a Healthy Child with Infant Formula

Breastfeeding is not always an effective way for a baby or mother. There is no doubt that breastfeeding is the best option, but some mothers want to avoid it because of health reasons. For infants, the formula is an alternative to breastfeeding. During the first 6 months, babies rely just on milk, and their health depends on it, as milk provides nutrition which is necessary for growth. But not every brand is worthy to by because you cannot take a risk in the case of infants. You need to do a good research before using the formula for your baby.

What is Formula?

Traditional milk formula is derived from cow milk. That formula is taken as the alternative to breastfeeding, but some mothers take it as a supplement for their babies. They use it only when there is deficiency nutrition in breast milk or things like that. What breast milk provides is the power and energy for the baby to fight against upcoming diseases. Infant formula tries to replace what breast milk provides.

It is better to ask your doctor even before the birth of the baby about which formula milk to use. Try to be consistent about that because it is important for your baby to stay on the same formula. If there are some problems, you have to discuss with a doctor before changing the formula.

What Alternatives Are There?

Traditionally, formula milk is derived from cow milk, but there may be some kind of complexities. Milk allergies and Lactose intolerance are some reasons that your babies may need to use different milk formula than the suggested one. These can cause excessive gas, skin rashes, diarrhea, bloating, etc. The alternative of the traditional formula milk is goat’s formula milk, which is derived from the goat’s milk. Although there are fewer benefits of it than the traditional one, it is safe if any of the two mentioned complications exist.

Keep in mind that the difference between the cow’s and goat’s formula milk are the fats and proteins. Goat’s milk fats are easy to digest, and that makes it a good alternative to traditional formula milk. Try to use goat’s formula milk only if your doctor recommends; otherwise try to use a traditional formula milk.

Use Infant Milk in Solid Food

Infant milk is the best food for your baby until they reach the age of 6 months.  After that, there are some solid foods that you can use to provide more energy to your child.  For that purpose, infant milk can also be used.  Use it in rice or vegetables you are preparing, and keep in mind that formula milk should be the primary food until the age of 1 year.

Now is the question of what is the best brand. It is best to consult your doctor about that, but the formula like proabsorb from Cow & Gate is a strong suggestion.
