I am not usually a big fan of hot cocoa, but I happened to be treated to a salted caramel hot cocoa at a cafe, and I was hooked!  I tried to recreate one at home and realized I could easily make my own.  I usually also do not like sweet and savory flavors mixed together, but I can’t get enough of the sugar and salt combination!

This is a super quick and easy way to make this recipe.. after all, I don’t have the patience to make a more complicated version considering our hectic schedule!  And we usually have these ingredients on hand, so it is easy enough to whip up in just a matter of minutes!

You only need a few ingredients for this recipe.

~ hot cocoa (however you like to prepare it – cocoa mix, cocoa powder with milk, etc)
~ caramel sauce
~ whipped cream
~ coarse salt

To start, prepare a hot cocoa like you normally would.  Once your mug is ready, add in at least 2 tablespoons of caramel sauce and a dash of salt.  I literally just squeeze caramel topping on a spoon and mix it in to taste.  The first time you make this, give it a taste to see how strong you like the caramel flavor.

Top with whipped cream. You can also drizzle some caramel on top for decoration and extra flavor.

Then drizzle with some caramel and salt.

Enjoy!
