Alter Eco Chocolate (**HOLIDAY GIVEAWAY**)

This product was provided free of charge in exchange for an honest review.

I am a huge fan of chocolate, and it is my sweet of choice.  I rarely eat any other kind of candy, and simply love a good chocolate.  And what’s better than a good chocolate?  One that is made sustainably, and is socially and environmentally responsible, just to name a few.  Alter Eco is a company that puts a lot of thought into their chocolates, from the ingredients to how and where those ingredients are sourced.

Our mission is global transformation through ethical relationships with small-scale farmers, and an integral sustainability orientation at every point on the supply chain.

Not only does Alter Eco put a lot of thought and care into how they obtain their ingredients, but the ingredients themselves are healthy.  If you are looking for good quality foods, such as non-GMO products, you can rely on Alter Eco.  The ingredients lists are short and simple, such as the Deep Dark Sea Salt bar, which contains just 4 ingredients: cacao beans, raw cane sugar, cocoa butter, fleur de sel.
I was ready to dig into the Dark Chocolate Salted Caramel Truffles right away.  This is just one of the four flavors of truffles available from Alter Eco.  Just like the box describes, these have a melty silky goodness – they are creamy and rich, with that great salted twist.  Sometimes I prefer regular milk chocolate over dark chocolate, but not in this case!

Our pure organic coconut oil comes from Kerala Fair Trade Alliance on India’s Malabar Coast. This farmer-owned coop practices “jaiva krishi”, a sustainable farming method mimicking virgin rainforest, where birds, squirrels and even wild elephants roam safely.

AlterEco Caramel Truffle

Not all the care and thought went into just the chocolates.. the box and the wrappers are environmentally friendly too!  We always recycle and compost, so it is nice to find a company that puts thought into everything, down to the packaging.

AlterEco Chocolate

The Sea Salt Truffles are amazing too.  I love the contrast of the dark chocolate shell and the creamy middle, combined with a bit of sea salt.

The sweet, rich deliciousness we all love is no longer just good–it can be really, really good for you. Have it both ways. First, savor the subtle crunch of Ecuadorian dark chocolate studded with mouth-watering Fleur de Sel de Guérande. Then melt away with a smooth-as-silk creamy chocolate center made with nourishing coconut oil.

Alter Eco Sea Salt Truffles

There are many flavors of Alter Eco chocolate bars, including some really neat ones like Dark Quinoa and Dark Coconut Toffee.

One of these is the Deep Dark Sea Salt bar, a very dark chocolate.  This has been one of my favorites for eating after dinner, since it is such a rich dark chocolate.  I love the combination of the chocolate.. and tasting those little grains of salt as they pass over my tastebuds.

AlterEco Bar

The Dark Brown Butter is a perfect combination of buttery chocolate and sea salt.  With deep, dark 70% cacao, and sweet pastured butter and celtic sea salt , it is smooth and filling.

Alter Eco Chocolate

I have really enjoyed the journey of learning about all the really nice ingredients and what goes into manufacturing these chocolates, while I enjoy them too!  Alter Eco is a great company to support while you have your chocolate too!  I love that this company cares about how they manufacture their products, not to mention all the benefits that the consumer gets (ok, besides awesome chocolate, the fact that it is non-GMO and no preservatives, artificial ingredients, etc).

These are just a few of Alter Eco’s great products, so be sure to check out their other foods, such as cane sugar, quinoa and rice.  The chocolate I received was devoured quickly.  I even warned my 7 year old that she probably wouldn’t like dark chocolate – but she was a huge fan of the truffles!
