I have been hearing a lot about Konjac Facial Sponges lately, but honestly I really had no idea what these little sponges were all about. I do however have finicky skin, so I was looking forward to trying something that could help my skin be healthier and look better.
Konjac is a moisture rich plant fibre which is by nature alkaline, and thus balances the acidity of the skin’s impurities and oils. The unique net like structure of the sponge gently massages the skin, breaks down dirt, stimulates blood flow and new growth of skin cells. Leaving the skin extremely clean and refreshed! pureSOL Konjac Sponge is unbelievably soft and excellent for all skin types! It is made of 100% pure vegetable fiber and processed without any coloring or additives, great for hypersensitive skin! Even gentle enough for babies!
The sponge comes carefully packaged in a cute box. I unwrapped my Konjac Sponge, which has a string for hanging. This little sponge, when dry, is pretty hard and stiff (sort of like a loofah), and needs to be thoroughly soaked before using.
The Konjac Sponge gets little bit larger when it absorbs water, becoming nice and soft.
As the instructions mention, you can use the sponge with or without a cleanser. I wash my face and then use the Konjac Sponge to massage my face. It is soft, but has a little bit of texture to it.
I sometimes even used a small pumice stone on my face, so I think this sponge is really soft. For me, this is an extremely gentle sponge, and I still need something a bit rougher to help exfoliate when I get dry skin – but at the same time, it is still invigorating. Generally, I use soap and water on my skin, and then my fingers and pumice to scrub, so the Konjac Sponge is nice to use in-between or when my skin is sensitive. Most people I know wouldn’t dare use pumice on their face, and I still reap the benefits of being able to really give my face a good massage.
Between uses, I hang the sponge on the suction cup hook provided, using the built-in string, giving it a chance to dry. The sponge should be replaced every few months, at which point you can toss your old one in the compost! Most of the packaging is compostable as well, and I love how eco-friendly this is!
I love that this sponge is all natural, made with 100% Pure Konjac Root Fiber. There are no parabens, sulphates, or pthalates, with nothing added. The Konjac Sponge really helps to massage my skin and lightly exfoliate without scrubbing.
PureSol also makes a Bamboo-Charcoal version, which I am interested to try as well – it contains activated carbon and essential minerals, and is great for problem skin.
