My daughter has suffered from eczema since she was a baby. As an infant, she would scratch endlessly, and I would put little baby mittens on her to try to prevent her from scratching herself. However she was still miserable, and over the years she has even scratched her skin until she bleeds.
After experimenting with a variety of probiotics, we found a probiotic that worked wonders and helped quite a bit with her eczema. However, even though the relief provided by probiotics was substantial, my daughter still experiences a lot of irritation. We have tried so many things – various moisturizers, natural laundry detergents, limiting baths, all natural soaps, no bubble bath, and more. It seems like my daughter has flare-ups year-round, from summer (sunscreen, time in the pool, lots of baths) to winter (dry air, dry skin, etc). Over the years, I have even had to sleep with her because she will scratch herself all night long and just be miserable and cry in her sleep.
Avishi Organics has a product just for my kind of situation – their Intensive Baby Balm.
Avishi Organics Intensive Baby Balm is a USDA certified organic balm that soothes, restores and deeply nourishes severely dry, extremely sensitive and irritated skin. The Intensive Baby Balm utilizes the regenerative powers of Neem, Coconut, Plantain, Shea Butter and other botanical ingredients in an extremely powerful yet gentle formulation that instantly hydrates, provides relief from stubborn diaper rash and flare-ups, and leaves baby’s skin smooth and comforted.
I love that this product comes in a balm form. As my daughter has gotten older, she has also grown fiercely independent. She has wanted to apply skin products on her own, which can be a disaster (especially if it is something like a chunk of coconut oil!). The balm goes on smoothly and easily, and she puts it on the backs of her knees in one or two swipes before bedtime. Although I usually rub it in a little, it is not necessary.
The Intensive Baby Balm has offered good nighttime relief. It seems to calm my daughter’s skin where we apply it, usually on the backs of her knees, insides of the elbows, and upper back. It has a little bit of an oily feel to it, which I think helps it to coat the skin well especially when applied right after a bath. Usually the itching begins right after a bath, and this helps to soothe and moisturize skin.
This product has a light, natural scent. It has a unique smell to it, and although I can make out the scent of shea butter and lavender, it is a combination of its own.
The Intensive Baby Balm is all natural, with an amazing blend of organic ingredients – no worries about what you are putting on your little ones!

This balm is also certified hypoallergenic, and had an independent lab conduct a HRIPT (Human Repeat Insulin Patch Test) under dermatologist review on 50 participants over 6 weeks, and the balm was found to be hypoallergenic and non-irritating making it suitable for babies and those with sensitive skin. Be sure to check out their Intensive Stretch Mark oil for pregnant mamas too.. if it works anything like the baby balm, I would have loved to have that kind of relief for my belly when I was pregnant!
