Years ago, we did away with any pots or pans with Teflon coating.  I wanted to get rid of chemicals in our household, but it turned out to be a challenge to find quality alternative non-stick cookware that held up to a lot of use.  Ozeri makes a line of Green Pans that are non-stick, but are safe and free of PTFE, PFOA and other harmful chemicals.  The Green Earth Pan line uses GREBLON, which is  an ultra-safe ceramic coating.

The interior of the pan has a noticeable texture, a “waffle”-like pattern.  The purpose of the textured pan surface is so that there is enhanced heat distribution.  It also helps foods not to stick to the pan.

We do a lot of cooking, yet I am still surprised at just how much we use this 10″ pan.  Normally my 12″ Ozeri Green Earth pan is my go-to pan, but the 10″ has been very convenient.  One of the things I instantly liked about this pan was that despite the smaller size, it has a nice, heavy feel to it.  I have used pans that have a cheap feel to them, but this is a solid pan.  Even though it has a scratch-resistant finish, I always use non-metal utensils (like a silicone or plastic spatula) to avoid damaging the pan.

In addition, the handle has a nice silicone covering, which makes it easy to cook with this pan.  I get a nice firm grip on the handle, and it doesn’t heat up like a regular metal handle.

We saute a lot of things, like beef and broccoli stir fry, and veggies like asparagus.  This is a super easy recipe – simply wash your asparagus, snap off the woody ends, and cut into approx. 1″ pieces.  Melt some butter in your pan and toss with the asparagus.  Then a few squirts of lemon juice, and a dash of salt and pepper.  I prefer my veggies more al dente and not overcooked, so you know the asparagus is done when it begins to get wrinkly and the edges begin to turn color.  You can also pull a piece of asparagus periodically to taste and see if it is to your liking.

We also make lots of subs and sandwiches, and we often toast a roll lightly with a little butter.  This pan is the perfect size, without dragging out a bigger pan – plus it cooks quickly and doesn’t stick to the pan.

My daughter loves quesadillas, and an 8″ soft tortilla fits perfectly in the pan.  Tip: the trick to a good quesadilla is lightly toasting both sides of the soft tortilla in a little bit of oil.  This is a tortilla folded in half, but you can use two tortillas for a full-size quesadilla.  First I toast one side of each tortilla, which become the insides of the quesadilla. Fill with cheese and any other ingredients you like (mushrooms, meat, etc) and pan fry until the cheese is melted and the tortilla is golden!

I think this has been the most-used pan in the house since I received it.  I love both my 12″ and 10″ Ozeri Green Earth pans, which have stood up to many uses and washings.  I have never had an issue with food sticking to my Ozeri pan, and washing is easy, with soap and water.

Ozeri makes a variety of products in their Green Earth line of pans, and you can find a variety of sizes in both smooth and textured finishes.  Be sure to check out all their great pans and make the switch if you haven’t already!

Non-stick frying pans are generally pretty good, but that honeycomb pattern looks super industrial…wow.
