I have been a huge green tea fan for years, so it makes sense that I love the idea of matcha powder. Matcha powder has all the benefits of green tea, plus many more. Matcha De Mark is an organic Matcha powder that is a great product to have in the kitchen!
Matcha has many health benefits: Matcha can now be found in numerous healthfood products ranging from cereal to energy bars. In 2003, researchers from the University of Colorado found that the concentration of the antioxidant EGCG available from drinking matcha is at least three times greater than the amount of EGCG available from other commercially available green teas. The aforementioned health benefits of matcha green tea may be attributed to the fact that the whole tea leaf is ingested, as opposed to just the steeped water in the case of ‘bagged’ green teas. This means that it delivers a much higher potency of catechins, chlorophyll, and antioxidants. By weight, matcha contains several dozen times more antioxidants (> 1000 mmol/100g) than blueberries (~9 mmol/100g), wolfberries, pomegranates, orange juice, spinach (~1 mmol/100g) or dark chocolate (~11 mmol/100g). There is evidence from clinical studies that suggests that theanine, when consumed by drinking Japanese green teas, may help to reduce or moderate mental stress responses.
I love that this Matcha De Mark is completely organic, which means I can really reap the benefits of this product. It is from a certified USDA 100% organic grower located in China. I was interested to learn that China is actually the true origin of Matcha (years 618-907), and later brought to Japan (in 1191).
Matcha powder is also much more versatile than green tea, since you can easily make a lot of different foods and drinks with the powder. It is a very fine powder, and mixes right into a variety of foods. I use about an average of 1 teaspoon per day, which seems to be a good amount in most of the recipes and drinks I have tried.
I noticed how aromatic this product is right away. The Matcha De Mark came sealed tightly in a foil bag, and has a very fresh smell to it.
Every morning I make a healthy smoothie. Most days, I like to add some matcha powder to it, to give me an energy boost along with all the other health benefits that it offers. For my smoothie I use: 1.5 cups coconut milk (or any milk of your choice), handful of kale, handful of frozen fruit, a banana, and 1 teaspoon of Matcha de Mark. Blend until smooth, and you have a delicious, clean-eating smoothie!
Another super easy way to use matcha powder is to make a matcha latte. I mix 1 teaspoon of matcha powder and some sweetener (honey or sugar) with 1/4 cup hot water, and then mix thoroughly with 3/4 cup hot milk. Healthy and delicious!
When you order this Matcha De Mark, you also get an e-book which includes dozens of amazing matcha recipes, including things like smoothies, Matcha Whoopie Pies, Matcha Churros, drinks, and more. The only thing I would improve about the e-book is that I wish there was an index. Since there are so many fantastic recipes, it would be nice to be able to look through the list and be able to jump to the exact page I want!
With the school year starting in just a few short days, I know that I will appreciate this Matcha De Mark even more than ever to help me make it through the day. This matcha offers sustained energy, which means that it really does help me with my energy levels – but doesn’t leave me feeling jittery like caffeine does. It helps wake me up and get through our generally hectic mornings. There have also been some times I’m not sure I would have made it through a workout, no less even be able to think about doing a workout, if I hadn’t started my day with some matcha.
Overall, I love having a bag of Matcha De Mark on hand in my tea cupboard. It is really easy to use; meaning that I get to reap the benefits by just sprinkling into a variety of foods or making a quick matcha latte.
