Surviving Cold & Flu Season with Scotties Tissues (**GIVEAWAY**)

The product was provided free of charge in exchange for an honest review.

Cold and flu season is here, and spring allergies are on their way.  Chances are, you or someone in your family has been sick this winter.  Scotties is there, for every sniffle, cough, and sneeze!

We are a huge fan of Scotties Tissues, and our favorite is the 3-ply tissues.  Scotties tissues come in so many sizes and variations, and you are sure to find one that you like.  I love the choices of cubes, or reach-in, and lots of different designs to choose from.  There are always lots of great choices to fit your decor, like this butterfly box that has me counting the days til spring!

Scotties Tissues

My kids noses get so raw in the wintertime and every time they have a cold, and Scotties tissues are soft and soothing – and hypoallergenic too.  You can also use their aloe tissues for added comfort!

Scotties Tissues

We keep Scotties on every night stand and also around the house.  I love the individual cubes that allow you to carefully pull out one tissue at a time (great for when you have kids that aren’t careful about conserving tissues!) – but this big reach-in box is great for nights when you need a box of tissues by your side!

Here are some tips for surviving colds & flu season, thanks to Stephen H. Zinner, M.D., Director of Medicine (Mount Auburn Hospital, Cambridge, MA):

  • Humidification – add a humidifier to your home or steam a pot of water in the kitchen.
  • Steam vapor – take a hot shower and breathe in the steam
  • oral decongestants,
  • nasal saline irrigation and select nasal sprays,
  • Aspirin or acetaminophen may be useful for the body aches that may accompany the first 24 -48 hours of a cold.

Being sick is miserable, and Scotties has some great tips as well to help you feel better!

  • Sleep – make sure to give your body the rest it requires to naturally rid the body of a cold.
  • Exercise can be useful to thin out mucus and increase the activity of white blood cells – if the person feels well enough to workout.
  • Warm soup or hot tea can soothe a sore throat.
  • Vitamin C & Zinc – stock up on foods high in these immune boosting properties
  • A soft tissue like that from Scotties can help alleviate nasal blockage and congestion.

Being a mom, I don’t get a day off when I’m sick.  And I would do anything to make my kids feel better when they are sick, so these tips are a lifesaver when your family is under the weather!

Not only is Scotties make great tissues, but they plant 3 trees for every 1 they use!  They are certified through the Sustainable Forestry Initiative and linked with the Renewable Forest Project.  They have also partnered with American Forests to promote urban tree planting initiative.  I love that Scotties goes above and beyond to be environmentally friendly – definitely something to consider when you are shopping for tissues!

We haven’t been sick too bad this year. My son had strep, that was about the worst. Lucky for us!
