Molly’s Suds

When I became pregnant with my first baby, I had made a commitment to use all natural products in my household.  This included everything from shampoo to soap, household cleaners and of course laundry detergent.  Molly’s Suds is one of those companies committed to making products that are free of chemicals and are truly all natural.

Have you seen all the chemicals in the average laundry detergent?  Unlike many average household products and laundry detergents, Molly’s Suds have no parabens, no SLS/ SLES, disodium EDTA and other harsh chemicals.  Did you know that many laundry detergents have chemicals like optical brighteners?  Optical brighteners are added to detergent that make your laundry appear brighter and whiter, and are made to stay on clothing, so these chemicals end up on your skin.  Notice how so many laundry detergents are scented?  Even detergent made specifically for babies?  The last thing I want on baby’s skin is fragrances and perfumes.

Molly's Suds Natural Laundry Powder

Molly’s Suds has a great line of laundry products that won’t bring any chemicals into your household.  Their product line includes laundry powder, cloth diaper laundry powder, wool dryer balls, a sport laundry detergent, and even dog shampoo!

I tried their regular laundry powder, which comes in two sizes (70 loads and 120 loads).  The ingredients are simple and safe:

Ingredients: Proprietary blend of: sodium carbonate sourced from the Green River Basin in Wyoming, sodium bicarbonate, magnesium sulfate (heptahydrate), unrefined sea salt, organic peppermint (menthe piperita) oil. No fillers. Contains no anti-caking or any free-flowing additives or conditioners. No optical brighteners. No GMO ingredients.

Molly’s Suds comes in a resealable plastic bag, which is not bulky, and fits conveniently on my laundry room shelf.  I love the compact size, that it is easy to grab and there isn’t a huge wasteful container.

Molly's Suds Laundry Powder

We have a HE (High Efficiency) top-loading washing machine, and Molly’s Suds is perfectly compatible with HE machines.  Instead of adding to the soap dispenser, you add the laundry powder directly to the tub.  It helps to have warm water to help dissolve the powder, and I have even dissolved this laundry powder in a little container with hot water before adding to be sure that it is fully dissolved.  I always let my laundry soak for several hours before running the full cycle.

Molly's Suds

Molly’s Suds washes clean, without leaving residues behind.  My laundry looks and smells fresh and clean.  Even with the organic peppermint, the laundry has a nice fresh smell to it, but not noticeably minty.

The great thing about their products is that their laundry powder actually removes the buildup from traditional detergents and laundry softeners (including a dangerous toxin called Galaxolide).  There are some great tips for removing stains on the Molly’s Suds website, especially if you have been using detergents that leave behind residues.

My daughter’s skin has had no reactions from this detergent.  Her skin is so sensitive, that she will have a reaction in response to the smallest things.  Fortunately, Molly’s Suds is a product that I have nothing to worry about.

This is a great laundry detergent, and performs just as well as traditional detergents.  We are an active family, so I feel like I am always doing laundry, from school clothes to workout wear to towels and swimwear from a trip to the pool.  Molly’s Suds keeps up with my laundry needs, while keeping up with our chemical-free household.

I never realized all of that. I always used the unscented, but now I feel terrible. My kids are much older now but I wonder if I should still change laundry detergents.

My son has autism and sensory processing disorder, so we had to switch to all natural years ago. I had not heard of this company though and they sounds right up my alley!
