I have been a special education teacher for 17 years, so when I heard “Sensory Box” I was QUITE excited!  My Sensory Box did NOT disappoint! My children are 4 and 7 and I told them that they could open this special package if they played nicely together for 20 minutes. They agreed, and then opened their special My Sensory Box surprise!

My Sensory Box Fall Box

Included in our Fall My Sensory Box were: turkey finger puppets, squeezable pumpkin, fillable apple, acorns, scarecrow, gourds and pumpkins, a pail, spoon, fall leaves, fall slinky, and green and yellow dried peas. I put all of the objects in a 10-gallon rectangular container (which has a lid for easy storage), put the container on a spread out sheet, and let them go at it!

My Sensory Box Fall

They scooped, made up stories for each other, “cooked” and played for an HOUR!  If you are one of those parents that are worried by the mess of dried peas, lay down an old sheet and get over it.  Embrace your inner child!  The amount of interactive play, imaginative ideas, cooperation, and storytelling facilitated by this box was AMAZING!  It is worth the few dried peas that I have to pick up on occasion.

My kids even used some of the materials outside of the sensory box.  We added some rice to the lentils, and the kids were allowed to carefully play with the mix using their play kitchen.  Although a little bit spilled, it was contained mostly to the play kitchen and the sheet we provided, so the girls thoroughly enjoyed a “meal” and a tea party using the lentil mix.  They loved sifting, sorting, stirring, and more!

My Sensory Box

My Sensory Box really appeals to kids.  This is a true hands-on experience that allows them to explore, develop motor skills, sort, and more.  My kids truly enjoyed their sensory box and actually surprised me with how many different ways they used it.  They were truly “thinking outside the box” with their lentil “tea party” among lots of other great activities.

I am going to suggest that grandma and grandpa get a gift subscription for the kids to My Sensory Box for Christmas! I love the idea of the kids getting an interactive, imaginative surprise in the mail every month.  What child doesn’t love getting something in the mail?

My Sensory Box does not come with a container for storage, but the one I purchased was less than $5. I look forward to keeping each box, and having the kids revisit them!

Oh it would be for my grandson! They moved back home with me last fall, so I spend alot of time playing with him. We made a landfill one…since he loves garbage trucks so much…and he plays with it every day. I wanted to make some new ones, but this would be so much easier to do! I just LOVE this idea! Such neat boxes they have put together!!!
