Massbricks Giant Building Blocks from Platports (**GIVEAWAY CLOSED**)

You know those tiny toys that you pray you don’t step on in bare feet?  Legos, matchbox cars, jacks, small rubber balls, etc?  Platport’s building blocks, called Massbricks, are huge!  They seem much larger that they looked in the online pictures.  When we took them out of the box, my kids’ response was. “Wow!  These are bigger than my feet!”  And they are!

Platports Massbricks

What I love about these building blocks:

  • They are huge.  They are bigger than the biggest Duplos or Legos I have ever seen.  And, they can not be swallowed or lost under the couch!
  • They are colorful.  A variety of bright colors make them very attractive, especially to little ones!
  • They come with an instruction manual telling kids (in pictures) how to build a variety of things from the 31 blocks in the box.

  • They are safety tested for flammability, sharp corners and edges, lead and phthalates.  (The lead is a big deal in our house.)
  • They do not require batteries or plug ins, and they have no screens and no sound!  It was so quiet for awhile, I had to come back into the room to be sure they were still playing with the bricks and not getting into trouble somewhere else!
  • They come in a great box with a carrying handle.
  • They are super easy to clean.  Wash and rinse them in the kitchen sink or bathtub and then set them out on a towel to dry OR use disinfecting wipes to clean them individually.

What I did not love:

  • 31 bricks is not enough for 3 kids to each build individual projects.  They can work together to build a single project, but three separate projects would require many more blocks (like one box per person).  So if you have more than one child, I recommend purchasing more than one set, or one of the larger sets, including: 40 bricks40 bricks with roofs48 bricks, 86 bricks or 121 bricks.
  • There are no instructions for getting the bricks back into the box!

From the company:

“We would like to introduce you to – Home of Massbricks — and the concept of LIFE-SIZED toy bricks for children to develop dexterity, foster creativity and facilitate social learning. In a world full of technological gadgets, Massbricks targets visual, cognitive, and tactile development in children by inspiring them to express how they see the world with their hands. In addition, Massbricks develops creativity and peer cooperative play, for both parents/teachers and kids alike. (Yes, it will awaken that kid inside of you, too). Massbricks is also the perfect complement to a dull and lifeless curriculum, as it brings normally boring subjects to life with the means of educational play. Kids will love to learn with Massbricks!”

There are so many places that these could be put to use.  In your home, in a day care, in a classroom, nursery, preschool, or even outdoors on a playground.  I can see physical or occupational therapists putting these to use.  I can even see them being used as bathtub toys.  What a great investment in a, electronics-free toy set that could involve hours of imagination and constructive play.  And, the kids can play with them individually or work as an interactive group to complete a project.

Massbricks from Platport would make an excellent gift this holiday season!
