Hoperageous ~ Bags to Support Haiti (**HOLIDAY GIVEAWAY**)

This product was provided free of charge in exchange for an honest review.

Hoperageous is one of those companies that you love to support.  It is founded by people who remind you that there are truly good people out there, who are selfless and generous.  This company sells bags to support Haiti, and here is their story:

In 2010, a devastating earthquake leveled the country of Haiti in 30 seconds, instantly throwing 300,000 people into tent cities. Mike Lewis took the first American Airlines flight allowed in and tried to do what little he could to help. After multiple trips to Haiti, a vision was born as the entire Lewis family felt the need to help people, without being another hand out. The fastest and most effective way to fight poverty is to give someone a job.

So, in partnership with a charity based in Neply, Haiti called myLIFEspeaks, Mike, Tiffany, and their daughter, Lily set out with the goal to design and create handmade bags in Haiti- producing jobs and hope for people who need a hand up, not a hand out. HOPErageous was born, and you can help join their fight and achieve their goal: to meet the needs of a community, while supporting multiple projects- including a feeding program for restaveks (child slaves), a medical clinic, and a local school.

Now you too can support Haiti through Hoperageous.  Every time you buy one of their bags, you support Haiti.

I love this creative idea, of producing jobs and revenue and improving conditions in Haiti.  And who doesn’t need bags?  You can support Haiti, while using a reusable, eco-friendly bag.

Each bag is handmade in Neply, a small village in Haiti, and comes with a tag that talks a little bit about Hoperageous.  And each bag has a tag sewn on that says “Handmade in Haiti” (and “Hoperageous” on the other side).  This way you can proudly show off your bags, and if you give them as a gift, the recipient will know that this gift supports a great cause.

Hoperageous Bags

One of the bags I had a chance to review was the Linda Rice Bag.  I love this bag especially because it is made out of a real rice sack!  The rick sack has white and beige tones, and makes this such a unique product.  The handles and inside are sewn with a brightly-colored beautiful fabric.  I love these eye-catching colorful accents!  Hoperageous also makes a kid’s size mini Linda bag, which I think is so adorable!  How cute would it be to get the kid’s Linda bags for my girls and have matching Mother-daughter bags – not to mention, my kids always have stuff they want to carry with them!

I love the Haiti Birds tote, which is strong enough to carry all of our library books.  It has become our designated library bag, and a necessity for keeping track of all our books.

The images printed on the natural canvas are gorgeous.  The tote is simple, with a natural feel to it, yet the screen-printing brings the bag to a whole other level.  I just love the design, which has so many great details.  I would definitely purchase other products with that same design (like greeting cards, t-shirts, etc).

Hoperageous Bag

And how about this Denim Tote?  This is a stylish way to carry around just about anything, from groceries to library books to when I need to to bring along a bunch of kid’s stuff with me.  The denim makes it a durable tote, yet with a fun appearance.  Hoperageous is also coming out with a Denim Messenger Bag, which would be great for school or work!

Hoperageous Denim Tote

I love my Hoperageous bags.  Their whole line of bags is fun and stylish, and these send such a positive message.  I think these would make great gifts, especially for those people that are so hard to shop for.  Check out Hoperageous, and “give a little hope in each bag”!  What better way to go eco-friendly, with a cute bag, and supporting people in need at the same time.
