MoGo: The Flavored Mouth Guard!

My five year old son loves to play ice hockey.  He also loves to talk – a lot!  That means the mouth guard that I, his loving and protecting mother, have attached to his helmet to keep his beautiful teeth in place, is often left hanging to the side while he chats on the ice.  Enter the flavored mouth guard by MoGo!

MoGo Mouth Guards

The MoGo M1 Performance Series flavored mouth guard that we tried is available in six different flavors in child and adult sizes: Blue Raspberry, Fruit Punch, Bubble Gum, Orange, Mint, and Lemon!  The flavors are made from all-natural ingredients!Mogo Bubble Gum Mouth Guard

These mouth guards are BPA free and meet FDA food standards, and are both manufactured and packaged in the USA.  MoGo stands behind their product with a $10,000 dental warranty, which I find reassuring.

The fitting process is fast and painless.  It is pretty much identical to every other mouth guard we have fitted.  There are a few quick steps: dunk in hot water, cool slightly, insert in mouth & bite, then use ice water.  Check fit, and redo if necessary.

You can view the instructions here:

There is a quick release tether included which makes removing it for cleaning after every game and practice easy.

My son loves the flavors of the MoGo mouth guards, especially the fruit punch.  The flavor has lasted, and he says it is as strong today as the first time he used it.  The flavors are impregnated into the plastic, so they are designed to last!

Now, the only downside to this product is that my son is chewing through the MoGo mouth guards faster than his previous non-flavored ones.  His old mouth guards would last about 6-8 weeks on average, while the MoGo is chewed through in about 3-4 weeks.  However, he is actually keeping the MoGo ones in his mouth, which helps explain why they get chewed faster!  So not only are his teeth staying safe, but he is paying more attention to his coaches because he isn’t distracted by talking to his teammates.  Well worth it in my book!

The American Association of Orthodontists estimates that 67 percent of children do not wear mouthguards while playing organized sports, and the American Dental Association recommends the use of a mouth guard for 29 sports/exercise activities.  MoGo mouth guards can keep your family’s teeth safe, especially with the added incentive of a mouth guard that is appealing to use!

What a great idea to make them flavored!! I guess it gives you a flavor like chewing gum but you don’t have to chew!

  2. 2

This sounds like a great way to encourage mouth guard use! I’m impressed that the flavor doesn’t disappear after a few uses.

I wonder how they get the flavor to stay in the plastic like that. Neat! Thanks for sharing!

I have to admit, I have a daughter in soccer and she is the goalie so I cringe every time someone collides with her. I am going to get her to wear a mouth guard more often. I am sure the flavour with help. Thanks for you honest review.

That flavor idea is very cool! Better than just tasting like saliva!

  6. 6

Now that my kids are adults, all the cool tools come out for sports. Awesome item!

  7. 7

As much as I love the concept… These things gross me out! My son (5 yrs old)… he pulls it out and slime comes out of it. :/
At this age all he does is want to chew on it too. So probably good for older kids. :)

My kids aren’t doing sports yet, but I know that my three year old will want to get into everything so I will keep MoGo in mind!

I can see how this would help kids continue to use their mouth guards for sure. Interesting concept!

  10. 10

I’ll have to remember this when my daughter gets older and plays sports.

  11. 11

A flavored mouth guard? Well that is different, I would much rather taste a flavor than saliva any day.

  12. 12

While my kids aren’t into sports, these still sound fantastic! So many kids play football or other sports that need similar mouth guards! It’s so helpful when they taste good for the kid!

  13. 13

So cool! My kids hate mouthpieces and maybe this would help them wear them.

  14. 14

Oh, this should have been thought of a long time ago. My son doesn’t play a sport where he would wear a mouth guard, but I’d definitely buy it if he did.

  15. 15

Such a great idea. My daughter would love this for sports she plays.

  16. 16

I’ve never used a mouth guard but imagine that a flavored one tastes much better then one that isn’t.

  17. 17

that is so cool, wish I knew about that when my kids started football a few months ago and now football season is coming to an end. Thank you for sharing I will have to keep it in mind when it starts back up.
