Ahh, the craziness of fall! I absolutely love fall, but among the serenity of the beautiful fall foliage and crisp fall weather here in the Northeast, there is the frenzy of settling into a school routine, trying to take advantage of the good weather before winter is upon us, and taking part in all the fall and Halloween festivities.
One of our fall tasks is shopping for Halloween candy – but there’s just one thing. My daughter has a severe peanut allergy, which is tough for a preschooler. Fortunately, she is a big fan of Hershey’s bars and Hershey’s kisses, so she doesn’t miss out on enjoying candy! We love going camping and making s’mores with Hershey’s chocolate, so Hershey’s is our go-to chocolate. (Be sure to always read the labels when looking for allergy-free treats).
Hershey’s kisses are so cute in fall colors, and they are only a few of the Hershey’s dish candies that are super cute. I am a big fan of the Hershey’s miniatures too, which come in fall colors and designs.
When we aren’t handing out Hershey’s candy, these dish candies go great on my mantle..
And in my daughter’s lunch box, because I love to send her a kiss during her school day, to remind her that I am thinking of her!
So while we are getting the most out of our fall activities, it can get a little overwhelming. This week alone? Two Girl Scout meetings, Halloween at the YMCA, Halloween Festival the elementary school, Halloween party at preschool, Halloween parade, Trick-or-Treating, a half day of school with parent-teacher conferences, 3 play dates, and more. Needless to say, I’m exhausted.
One of my guilty pleasures is some good entertainment, because after a long day, I want something I can just have fun with. I love getting lost in entertainment news, not to mention that PEOPLE Magazine has lots of great features, like reviews on new books and kid’s music, celebrity news, and more.
And I always save my dessert until after the kids have gone to bed, so I can truly savor my Hershey’s kisses.
So, what is better than sitting back with a good PEOPLE Magazine and some treats after a day of taking the kids to various events, followed up by two hours of raking leaves? Funny how much you can really escape with some good candy and lose yourself in a PEOPLE magazine!
And when Halloween is over, you can even make these awesome s’mores bars! Use leftover pieces of Hershey’s chocolates, and you have these amazing treats that taste just like s’mores! All you need is to melt a 10oz bag of marshmallows with 2 tablespoons of butter, and then mix in 4 cups of cereal, 2 cups graham crackers, and as much chopped chocolate as you like! Spread in a 9×13″ pan and allow to set (or in our case, not!).
