I received a sampler of Daregal Gourmet fresh frozen herbs to review as a part of a Blog Friendly PR campaign. All opinions are my own and no compensation was received.
I am always looking for ways to make cooking easier. As a busy mom, it seems like days fly by and then before I know it, it is time to get ready for dinner. I try to prepare as many fresh foods as possible, but one of the things I often seem to be missing are fresh herbs. Either I don’t have any fresh herbs, or I buy a bunch and most of it goes to waste. I was very excited to try Daregal Gourmet fresh frozen herbs, because the idea of keeping a stash of fresh herbs sounded wonderful! These can be stored frozen up to 3 years!
Daregal Gourmet offers a variety of fresh, frozen herbs, including Basil, Cilantro, Parsley, and Garlic. I use all of these herbs quite often, and these frozen herbs are so useful and versatile. These are chopped and ready to use – you don’t even need to defrost them. I found it easy to sprinkle them right into my dishes – there is no clumping.
These fresh herbs are clearly high-quality, and are 100% natural. They are processed right after picking and maintain that fresh flavor, aroma, and color. Once you try Daregal Gourmet herbs, you can see the superior quality compared to other frozen herbs and of course dried herbs. There is absolutely no competition when it comes to things like dried herbs, which have an unnatural texture and flavor.
Basil is one of my favorite herbs, so it was the first I tried. Daregal Gourmet frozen herbs come in small containers, much like mini milk cartons, with a flip-top lid. The flavor is so vibrant that you would not believe it was frozen!
~ 1 cup Cheese (mozzarella, Italian blend, or Parmesan)
~ Salt & pepper
Preheat oven to 350F.
Chop the zucchini into bite-size pieces. You can really do this according to the size of your pan.
Mix in 2 or more tablespoons of Daregal Gourmet Basil.
Toss with 1/2 cup cheese (set the rest of the cheese aside). Place in a pan (I used an 8×8″ glass pan).
Bake for about 25 minutes, remove and add the remaining cheese. Return to the oven for about 10-15 minutes. You want the zucchini to be cooked and slightly tender (but not soggy), and the cheese to be slightly browned. You can always set the oven to broil the cheese if you want the zucchini to be more ‘al dente’.
This dish is so easy to prepare, and my whole family enjoys it.
Another great thing about Daregal Gourmet herbs are that they do not have to be defrosted. The other day, I grabbed some tomatoes and fresh mozzarella, drizzled with olive oil, and sprinkled in some Daregal Gourmet basil. A little bit of salt on top and it was ready to go! I absolutely love that fresh basil taste!
We use garlic almost on a daily basis, so I loved having the Daregal Gourmet frozen garlic. Garlic goes in just about any pasta or stir-fry, and I love the convenience of having it chopped up and ready to go.
Cilantro is one of the herbs I find that I end up wasting the most. I usually buy a big bunch of fresh cilantro for a recipe, and then only use a little bit, so the rest goes bad before I have a chance to use it. It drives me crazy to throw away fresh foods, and it is frustrating that we never seem to have cilantro on hand, but that is where Daregal Gourmet offers convenience. I have used my cilantro in one of my favorite side dishes, Quinoa with Black Beans & Corn.
I love parsley, but again, I find that I buy a big bunch, and I end throwing out a good portion. Daregal Gourmet’s parsley means I can add parsley to so many dishes – minus the washing and chopping!
I am thoroughly impressed with Daregal Gourmet frozen herbs, and I would love to keep my freezer stocked with these! There is just no comparison to other dry or frozen herbs. These herbs are so convenient, and allows you to prepare recipes with fresh herbs you want any time. These are time-saving and cost-effective because you get just the parts you use – not the stems – and the herbs are washed, prepared, and ready to go.
