The Power of Make-Believe Play (+ @Guidecraft Kitchen **GIVEAWAY**)

Make-believe play is one of the most powerful ways that children develop and learn. Make-believe helps children…
  • Build social skills
  • Problem Solve
  • Build Vocabulary and Language skills
  • Explore imagination
  • Learn life skills
  • Practice leadership skills
  • Explore new roles
  • Build confidence
  • Develop negotiation and adaptation skills
  • Helps children explore roles

Make-believe play engages all of a child’s senses and skills, including motor skills, language skills, and cognitive skills. It fosters more advanced intellectual development and helps children learn to concentrate for longer periods of time. When children make believe, they develop social competence, strengthen memory, and learn logical reasoning. There is no doubt that make believe play is wonderful and powerful for children. We love to make believe at our house. Our daughter will play “kitchen” and “mom” for hours. Mimicking everything I am doing, and following me around the house copying my every move. She tucks spatulas in her apron and cooks eggs “ober easy” for daddy.

You can only imagine our daughters excitement when for her 4th birthday, she opened her very own Guidecraft All in One Play Kitchen. She gave me a huge hug and exclaimed “Mommy, now I can REALLY be just like you!” It could possibly go down in her memory as the best gift she has ever received. If you want the ultimate in pretend play for your little one, Guidecraft has everything you need. In business for over 40 years, Guidecraft’s educational kids toys, arts and crafts, and kids room furniture has delighted kids and parents alike. Guidecraft understands how important it is for kids to play and pretend. Winner of the 2010 Creative Child Magazine, Preferred Choice Award, The All in One Play Kitchenis fully equipped. It isn’t cluttered or busy. The wood kitchen is built with clean modern lines and unisex colors (greens, blues, creams and light wood grain veneers). It is perfect for boys and girls. The kitchen is complete with…

  • Refrigerator with a shelf
  • Sink
  • Microwave
  • Oven with a real pull-out shelf
  • Dishwasher
  • Cooktop
  • White board on the Fridge
  • Wall Phone
  • Storage cupboard
  • Clock with moveable hands
  • Knobs on the stove and dishwasher that turn and click.

Measuring 40″ h x 50″ w x 16″ l, and weighting in at 100 pounds, the kitchen is recommended for kids ages 3 and up, but our 14 month old and our 8 year old, love to play and pretend too! The kitchen will arrive in two large, and long heavy boxes. Wood remember. Assembly is required. Once you open the boxes, you will find all the pieces and hardware you need carefully packed and labeled. The directions are included, and are easy to read and follow. It is not hard to put together, but it does take a little time. The effort is worth it. You will be so happy with the craftsmanship and durability of this wood kitchen. It is very stable and I have no worries about it tipping over.

You will also love all the opportunities for your child to breath their own ideas into the kitchen space. There are hooks and shelves and cupboards for your child to fill. And there are no electronics to distract.

The Guidecraft All in One Play Kitchen is the perfect imagination center for your child. It provides the ideal canvas for your children to imagine and create.

Our daughter plays with her new kitchen for hours. She bakes and mixes, she organizes the fridge and washes the dishes. She pauses to take a phone call and has even asked to learn how to “tell time” because of the clock above the sink. She writes her grocery list on the white board and leaves me notes and reminders on the fridge just like we do on our real fridge. She has become more confident in her ability to do “mom jobs”, and has even started making up her own recipes. She loves to serve us lunch and never goes to bed without hanging her hot pads back up behind the sink. I have seen so much growth as a result of her make believe play with her new kitchen.

Be sure you watch the fun video and see how our daughter plays with the Guidecraft All In One Play Kitchen. Accessories not included.
