A Family Company (Plus Our Chicago Tour) #KolcraftMomFest

Kolcraft, in partnership with the Jeep, Sesame Street, Sealy, Stearns & Foster and Contours brands, is truly a family centered company.  Not only has the operation been passed down through the generations of the “Koltun” family (which we had the chance to meet), but everyone who works on their team acts like a family as well.  When Sarah (Minnesota Mamas Must-Haves), Jennifer (Mom Spotted) and Christine (From Dates to Diapers) and I visited, they treated us like a part of their team as well.  (More on that in a bit.)

(Jennifer, me, Sarah, Christine)

Here are the lovely faces of Kolcraft’s social media:

Chances are that if you are a blogger, you have probably interacted with one of these ladies.  Kim (left) is in charge of Contours social media while Michelle (middle) heads up the Kolcraft side (and is one of my favorite people).  Colleen (right) is her right hand man – I mean woman.  She’s also an impressive walking encyclopedia of blogger facts.

When I think of Kolcraft, I think of quality baby gear with a great price point.  Value without breaking the bank – and with a lot of bang for your buck!  But as we witnessed at every turn of our tour and panel discussions, Kolcraft’s first and foremost concern is of safety and regulations.  In fact, they take safety seriously.  Did you know they initiated the Contours LT Tandem stroller recall from a couple of weeks ago?  I have great respect for them voluntarily putting themselves on the line in the name of child safety.

(Don’t you think the logo is fitting not only for the “C” in Contours, but also for its origins in Chicago?)

We took the grand tour of the company, met all the individuals that make it so great, saw the “secret” inner workings from concept to production, and were wowed in the testing room.  (Personally, I loved meeting the engineers.)  But what’s really exciting over at Kolcraft is what’s happening with the Contours brand, the “Lexus” of Kolcraft.  Currently, they carry a line of bassinets and strollers (both of which we currently own), but they are expanding their line.  I am beyond ecstatic to try out their upcoming revolutionary line of baby gear.  I can’t yet divulge what’s coming, but let’s just say that their motto of “This Baby’s Got It All” really does ring true.

This is me with a classic look of coveting.  I was salivating, literally, and at least of couple us bloggers asked to take the prototypes home with us.  It was at that very moment that one of the new Contours products inspired me to go ahead and have baby #4.

(Disclaimer: The brand nor ANOM are to be held responsible for any “additions” to your family upon the launch of the new Contours line.)

Now on to the Chicago Hospitality, Kolcraft-style!  Our tour of Chicago started at the famous Drake Hotel, where we stayed for the next couple of nights. Our kids certainly enjoyed their stay:

We got the red carpet treatment, complete with a limo tour and beauty treatments at the Red Door Spa.  Don’t we look lovely and relaxed?  :)

Here we are standing under the reflective structure affectionately known as the “Bean” (which was really intended to be a cloud).  I personally think it looks like a red blood cell, but that may be the biologist in me.

We ate the best Chicago pizza place in town and had a unique dining experience at Viaggio the next night.  They really took care of us – all of us!

My kids had their own tour of the city, 15 miles walking with dad in their (obviously) comfortable ride, the Contours Optima Tandem. (Notice the recline on that baby!)

We had breakfast with Michelle’s sweet baby (on the left).

And it wasn’t over until we heard the “skinny violin sing”.

We had such a great time!  Thank you, Kolcraft, for making my family feel like a part of yours!
